My ISO dial just fell off! A little angry.....

RXMD - The shop's main Leica HQ didn't want to replace the whole camera due to such an easily fixable problem; thus to them, it wasn't under factory warranty. They were going to send a tech to glue it back on for me. I wouldn't except that . I wanted to make sure I had the best build quality for the money I paid. The store manager decided to bite the bullet and let me have a new body, while having to sell the old one as second hand.

Naos,

If you ask me, I don't mind buying a few days old camera at discounted price. 😀

Could they not just replace the back door, ISO dial and all, before they resell it? Then it would at least be more likely to be reliable. Re-gluing seems a poor fix since the glue might not have stuck for a reason (greasy plastic etc.) and fail again at some not too distant future date.

Hmmm... suddenly, my opinion of the store has come down a few notches. They could easily send the camera to Germany, and I'm sure Leica would oblige and replace or repair the camera. But then, again, expecting common sense from some kinds of people is like plowing in the sea.

Yea I don't see them as losing money on this. All they have to do is send it back defective to Leica with a note saying took the camera out of the box and the dial was loose in the packaging. End of story.

Magus - The dealer I bought my camera from kept me happy, so I'll just leave it at that. I shot my first roll of T-MAX 400 BW the other day and processed the film all by myself! The older gentleman who tought me was relived to see there are those out there who still interested in film. The darkroom I go to charges only $2 a day with access to their photo-studio (lighting, background, shooting space ect...). I can process as many rolls as I want. I just have to pay for the paper if I want prints. I plan on living in the darkroom this weekend 🙂

But when it comes back they can't sell it as new - it will have to be sold as a "refurb" or an "open box" item.
