I've been scammed by a guy called Stephen Yeung.

He contact me in FB and I paid 1500$ AUD for a Sony Vaio Z.

Now I don't have money or computer and I'm desperate.

He said he's from Brisbane.

Please someone there who can call the police?

Thanks

I doubt the Australian police will respond to a complaint a local Australian makes to them on behalf of a person from overseas.

I suggest you make an international phone call yourself to the Queensland Police - you should get the number easily from google.

Check the time difference - it's best to ring them between 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Australian Eastern Standard Time.

If this person has scammed you - you may well find he was also lying to you when he told you he was from Brisbane. Do you have any other information establishing where he is located?

I think you are most likely right in this.

I'd actually suggest contacting the Australian Federal Police as being more likely to have the jurisdiction, the familiarity with overseas scams and the international contacts to make progress (if that's even possible) on your case. I'd suggest contacting them either through their website (just Google it) or via e-mail (same thing) then following up with a phone call. If there is a language issue, I believe Australia still supports a Telephone Interpreter Service (though perhaps under a different name) which I'm sure the police will know how to engage.

I am sorry to hear this happened to you.

A quick Google search got a few hits for Stephen Yeung scam:

in this thread a person claims that his identity has been stolen by Stephen Yeung:

If your payment was by credit card or PayPal you can make a claim through them. If they find the transaction was fraudulent there is a chance you will get your money back.

Here are the contact details for Queensland police:
http://www.police.qld.gov.au/forms/contact.asp
I suggest you contact them; however that does not necessarily mean they will be able to recover your money even if they successfully prosecute. That's why I suggest following up through credit card or PayPal, who have policies and procedures for a refund where a transaction was fraudulent. If it was direct bank transfer you should contact your bank. Maybe they can help.

I'd also contact your local police and report the matter. Ask them if they will take further action to contact Queensland police.

I don't know if the AFP can help but here is their contact details:
http://www.afp.gov.au/contact.aspx

Good luck, be persistent, and keep records of all matters pertaining to this matter. The records may be required for evidence and may help you to obtain a refund or get your money back.
