Neopan 1600: Status?

Thanks for the link. But, the professional page is still showing Neopan 1600 as though it were available. No mention of discontinuation.

I couldn't believe it either, I was so upset. I love the NEOPAN 1600 look. A few months ago, actually I think two, I had someone call up to Fuji to ask when the announcement would be made official and they said at the end of the year.

But for those of you that depend on the American website, Fuji will be sending you a little gift baskets and good-bye letters to ensure you are totally aware of the discontinuation.

Don't believe the hype.

It occurred to me that maybe they withdrew Neopan 1600 to replace it with a better film they have in the works. Like maybe an ISO 800 fine-grain film, honestly labeled with the true speed.

No, huh?

Weep not for Neopan 1600! It lives on forever as a black and white profile in Alien Skin Exposure, Nik Color Efex, DXO Labs film pack, and assorted black and white Fred Miranda Photoshop actions, and a setting "I think" on some digital Fuji cameras.

(Ducks to avoid being hit with an Argus...)

No Argus brickbats thrown by me, Nick, but I do lament Neopan 1600's passing; didn't use it a hell of a lot, but it was great when I needed it. I can manage with other stuff. (But I'm not into the digital-extrapolation stuff...more heat than light in that direction, IMO.

If someone could find out their CEO's mailing address, I would be willing to join others in writing a large quantity of individual letters to express our distress and demand they reinstate Neopan 1600. That might be more effective than the petition sent earlier.

What part of economics and profitable business don't you get?
