Neopan 1600: Status?

Both Delta 3200 and TMZ are faster. Delta 3200 is arguably sharper. Neopan 1600 is finer grained than either the Kodak or Ilford offerings, but then, it would be: it's slower. Tonality is pure personal preference. Pick the compromise you prefer.
Personally, I never saw the point of a film that was about 1/3 stop faster than HP5 Plus, at most, and which had (as far as I am concerned) grossly inferior tonality to any of the alternatives. But then, as I say, tonality is pure personal preference.
Presumably, plenty of others agreed with me, in the sense that Neopan 1600 sales were insufficient to keep it in the line-up, while HP5, Delta 3200 and TMZ are still available. Sure, it's very sad that a unique 'look' is gone -- but the same sort of thing has happened throughout the history of film. I can commiserate with Neopan 1600 addicts, but surely, even they are not actually surprised that it's gone.

Or, indeed, to take it. Nevertheless, I applaud your elegant rejoinder and commiserate with you. I felt the same way about Fuji 50 RF/RFP, but of course, with that, they added insult to injury by 'replacing' it with the woefully inferior Velvia. At least they're not pretending that they've 'replaced' Neopan 1600 with something 'better' that is actually slower and in most ways (all the ways that mattered to me) inferior.

The announcement went up on Fujifilm's website today. Its official. Neopan 1600 (and Astia 100F in 135 !!!) has gone the way of the dodo.

The good news is that Astia in 120, 220 (really? No seller in Europe has carried that for years) and sheet are continued.

I was just at Yodobashi Shinjuku, not a single roll of any Fuji film in 120, just a few remains of 220. Sheet film in 4x5 and 8x10 was in stock, though...😱

Not a big surprise. Guys (and gals, too - I'm not a sexist) who consumed Astia in batches, now are on memory cards.
Eventually E6 market will not outlive B/W stuff.
My guess is that Astia 100F in other sizes is discontinued as well, but Fujifilm still has plenty of stock so no need to announce it just yet 😉

+ 1. 🙂 I think the same also is true for Fuji`s 4x5 sheet film Quickloads. If there is really something like a "film renaissance", they may run out of stock faster though ...
They had 80 rolls of Astia100F 135-36 left in Yodobashi Shinjuku last evening ... (I bought 40 rolls from that stock)

I just looked at Fuji's website in English language. I don't see where they even mention black and white films. No mention of Neopan 1600 or Neopan 400. And no mention of discontinuation under their news announcements section. Maybe they have not caught up with this to post it to the website yet.

Thanks for the link. But, the professional page is still showing Neopan 1600 as though it were available. No mention of discontinuation.

http://www.fujilab.co.uk/ still stocks it as well. Maybe they got the message?
There's still plenty of already manufactured but unsold Neopan 1600 in the distribution system. These guys just haven't run out yet.
