Has anyone noticed that B&H is listing Neopan 1600 as discontinued, and Adorama only has past-date (01/2010) stock?

Do we know the current status of Neopan 1600?

All kinds of internet chatter recently about Neopan 1600. Some say the film has been discontinued while others say that only some varieties (bulk rolls) have been dropped. It's still on the Fuji USA website, but not be Freestyle, B&H. Google "Neopan 1600 discontinued" for more info.

Googling "Neopan 1600 discontinued" gives me volumes of stuff over the past few years, some dating back all the way to 2001...

What's weird is that I just got two rolls of Neopan 1600 a day ago from B&H. I must have received some of their last stock.

I wish Fuji was more forthcoming about their products. Currently you can't buy any Fuji film in 8x10" sheets. It's unclear what's going on with that as well.

Try to find it (Neopan 400, that is) - Adorama still has some, but it's gone from most places at decent price, including Freestyle. I bought the last 30 rolls from B+H.

Isn't it amazing how quickly this thread seemed to morph from a discussion on Neopan 1600 to a discussion on Neopan 400. I don't know the answer on 1600, but I hope it's not gone. I have about 10 rolls in my freezer, and if it's gone after they have I will just have to try pushing 400. With regard to 400, the situation AFAIK is that it has been discontinued in 120 size only because there was an environmental problem with one of the components of the backing paper, not the film itself. Neopan 400 in 35mm is still alive; maybe the reason it is scarce and expensive in the US at the moment is the sagging value of the USD. From where I sit, the AUD has reached parity with the USD overnight, so it's time for Aussies to buy, buy, buy!

So why would the backing paper be different on acros 120 compared to Neopan 1600? Acros 120 is still alive.

References for some good on-line stores in Australia, please .... I'm sure they take Amex; US or AUD might not matter that much 🙂

A very sensible question, and I have asked that myself. But so far no answer. Fujifilm are very tight with their information, almost none in fact, and that was the reason they gave without going into any detail. BTW, it's Neopan 400 in 120 which was discontinued. Sadly, they never made 1600 in 120.

Perhaps they've decided that the X-100 will kill a significant chunk of the remaining market for the 1600... :-S

Sorry, ferider, you misunderstood my statement. What I meant was that it's time for Aussies to buy stuff from the US because we can now get $1 for $1. In the not too distant past (5 years maybe) I can remember when AUD1.00 bought only about USD0.50.
