new 15mm Heliar M-mount

This new lens is a big advantage for many M8 users and frankly those are probably the ones that buy the most CV gear at the moment.
Filter thread was missing before, we now have a M-mount and RF coupling which might come in handy sometimes, allthough I don't care very much..

I have question though. Does anyone know if this lens has the same recess for 6-bit coding as the M-mount 28mm ultron has? This would be terrific!

The new finder is absolutely brilliant.

The new 15/4.5 is also a great job. If you shoot black and white only with your M8 you don't need. If you shoot color you might need it.

So how do you code a 15mm lens for the M8?

and the variofinder (without price and date)

The 15mm LTM heliar was my first RF lens and remains one of my favourites. I'm not in digital RF territory and so won't be going for the new one. I also like the min focus of the LTM and smaller size.

Hopefully vignetting with filters won't be an issue for the the new version. All the old filters from your Nikkors might fit but will they need to be slimline?

Perhaps I'm being to negative.

Congrats to Cosina for identifying and coninuing to serve emerging markets. Smaller companies have to move with the times and Cosina has demonstrated their ability to both create and tap into niche markets. All power to Mr. K.

Great to see that the price has not gone up, though if you add the view finder it has. I was expecting to see an extra 50 Euros added on. Not a bad update for one of the oldest lenses in the CV LTM line.

I'm wondering what the price will be on the new fancy finder.......

Well the new finder is certainly a huge contraption.
65mm - but I believe it is smaller than the Frankenfinder.

Well for that matter it's smaller than a Land Rover, too, but that still makes it a huge device to prop on top of a compact camera. ;)

But then some people are going to love it for its flexibility, so let them buy it and be happy.

The only thing that has ever got any of my cameras noticed is a VF on top of a rangfinder. One of the reasons the Bessa R4 is so great.

Normally I don´t use british cars ;) so I took my KMZ Universal Viewfinder (28-135mm turret) and a ruler to compare and to get an impression. The KMZ turret finder was 36 x 43 x 57 mm [to compare: Voigtländer 15-35mm = 42,5 x 49,5 x 65,4 mm]

Exactly. The KMZ turret finder is already not exactly small, and the Voigtländer adds another quarter inch in all directions.

But as I said, there are people who don't mind and who will love this finder.

Probably not with the M8 due to the crop factor, but maybe with a full frame film camera. Would be nice to have the option of using a center filter when you really want one, although that's more of a issue with the 12mm. Still, it's a great lens at a price that once would have been a dream.

I've wanted a superwide for my M6 as well as my Bessa R3M and was going to buy the uncoupled Voigtlander 15mm. Then...I saw the new 15mm in M-mount and had to have it. Yea, it cost more and I had to buy a viewfinder but what the hey...so far I love the lens. It is sharp, colors and contrast are great.
