New 50mm f1.1

I toyed with the idea of getting a black lens after I ordered a silver one. Prices will go up, but we should not buy lenses simply because prices may increase.

Actually I think prices will go down for this 1st round of lenses.
Once they modify the barrel so the lens can mount more effectively on the M4 style.
Sort of like when the Nokton f1.2/35mm had to be modified for the M8.

I'm still waiting for my lens which seems lost at sea 😛

Most users are not M4 owners, so I don't think that M4 users are the main focus of 7artisans for marketing their new lenses to.

unfortunately I am, so I have to wait until september- october , even if I weren't I would have still waited, since the first series will have a lower resale value

I saw this an am confused.
What is different about an M4 from other film Ms?

The lens release button of the M4 is rounder and the extra part towards the lens mount prevents the lens from being mounted. It's the same for some big lenses such as the Canon 85mm f1.5 LTM.

Actually, even it's not mentioned by 7Artisans, I believe it will affect not only all M4 cameras, but also early M4-2 cameras (those with red dot on the release button are fine) and early M3 cameras.

This is an M3 on which the lens can be mounted:

And this is an M3 on which it cannot:

Watch them closely and you will notice the difference.

Even it's an M mount lens, I doubt the price of the lens would ever go up. All Chinese goods only drop in price, never increase, which wouldn't make sense as you can always make more of them, easily.

CV lenses have been going up in prices each year (for Leica cameras).
There could be similar increases for M lenses that are made in China.

Some CV lenses were produced in small quality. For example, the 28mm f3.5, the 50mm f2.5, and even the CV mini finder, their prices went up due to the increased rarity. I find in general CV lenses haven't gone up in price if you take apart factors such as inflation and evolution of currencies, for example, the 40mm f1.4 are still selling for less than 300€ used here, as well as the 35mm f1.7 LTM.

Again they are Japanese goods, not Chinese. If 7Artisans can already make money by selling them at the actual price, they will do everything in their power to produce more and to sell more at the same price or cheaper.

Time will tell.

I was going to order from eBay at $320 9or best offer), but I read several negative comments on how hard it is to insert on the Leica M mount, and the hard to take it out. Also, some focusing issues. I will wait to see. In the meantime, my Canon 50/1.2 is going an excellent job.

I read only that the M4 has problems with having this lens mounted on it. The rest of the Leica M models should work well. Right?

I'm amazed that this lens has generated so much interest. It seems limited optically and you'll never convince me that the build quality could be much beyond a supermarket toaster. 😀

Nice work with the Canon 50/1.2 pepeguitarra. I own and use one too and I'm ever impressed by it. So far it has no competition at it's price point in LTM - the other super-speeds in LTM are all rare and astronomically expensive. I'd be delighted though to see someone make a new fast LTM prime - probably unlikely these days as the Leica M mount seems to really taking over as a rangefinder full frame mount with broad third party support (which I can't complain about!).
