More specifically Joerg I'm assuming the North End in Boston on Saturday afternoon for the San Antonio Di Padova Feast!
🙂
Ray AFAIK there are no definite plans but here's a suggestion and further information for all so that we can discuss: that
we meet at 1:00pm Saturday August 25 at a place to be determined. I don't know the North End at all so if someone has a favorite eatery/drinkery speak up now! We can have lunch then go shooting.
🙂
The St. Anthony's festival streets are Endicott, Thacher & North Margin, see the attached map below. They are all adjacent and fairly close to North Station, the North End is not difficult to find...

Here' a subway map link and some information about how to use the MBTA to get to the North End:

For those of you coming in from Connecticut it would be best to use the Massachusetts Turnpike and exit on Route 128/I95 South. Stay in the right lane on 128 south and I think it's the first exit (Grove St.) that takes you to the
Riverside MBTA station. From Riverside you can get the Green line (D train) into Boston. Please note that the Green D line is undergoing a major reconstruction and is closed between Reservoir and Fenway stations. You need to get off the train at Reservoir and get a shuttle bus to Fenway. Inconvenient but only adds about 10 minutes to the trip. If the train you catch at Fenway terminates at Lechmere stay on it and get off at North Station. If it terminates at Government Center (likely) get off there, get an outbound Blue line train one stop to State, then hop on an Orange line train headed north to Oak Grove and hop off at North Station.
Those of you coming in from the north east would be well advised to drive to the
Alewife MBTA station on Route 2 (direct connection from Route 128/I95 - take the Route 2 exit for Cambridge). Hop on a Red line train and change to the Orange line at Downtown Crossing. You need to get on a train headed north to Oak Grove and get off at North Station.
For those of you who haven't used the MBTA since last year the payment system of tokens has been replaced by an automated card reader system called the Charlie Card. The
Charlie Card is a stored value smart card that is the cheapest way to get around on Boston's subway. Ask an MBTA official for your card then use a machine to add a dollar amount to the card using your credit card or cash. $10-15 will probably do you for the day. Each fare costs $1.70 with the card, $2.00 without one.
Anyone have a favorite eatery where we could meet for lunch?
