Ilford have announced a new fine art FB paper. Now I don't feel abandoned. I can't wait to try some out.

Ilford are committed to analogue photography, which is great to see. As a result I support them by using their products wherever I can.

Most excellent.
I don't print on FB usually, but let's see how much reduced washing we are talking about and how do they achieve it.
Now, why does it have the brand Hahnemule on its packaging? Are they the supplier for the base maybe?

Wow, minimum size 8x10. I foresee some in-the-dark cutting.

Frances is about to try some in the darkroom. It's strange-feeling stuff, more like thin card than paper, at least when dry (I've just been slicing up test strips).

You can safely cut it under red or deep yellow safelight.
(also, 8x10 is small as it is, why bother?

I believe it's the paper that the German darkroom-magician Wolfgang Moersch has tested recently - look through the results in his gallery
If Wolfgang is testing the paper, lith prints are to be expected.
I like how the new Ilford produces the brown color, but not too sure about the grain. Seems pronounced. But all that means is someone would have to pick the subject (and negative) more carefully. I like the one with the fortress (??) wall.

Grain on paper? You must be kidding.

I suppose that what looks like the grain the above linked gallery is how the surface texture of the paper looks after scanning.

Why kidding? Lith prints can show pronounced grain.

Do you actually know what I was talking about (lith printing), or are you just trying to be sarcastic?
I don't quite get it.

It's gorgeous. Frances is hand-colouring some right now. Not ideal for scanning, though, because of the pronounced surface texture. Haven't tried it for lith yet...
