New Ilford FB paper

Ilford are committed to analogue photography, which is great to see. As a result I support them by using their products wherever I can.

Most excellent.
I don't print on FB usually, but let's see how much reduced washing we are talking about and how do they achieve it.

Now, why does it have the brand Hahnemule on its packaging? Are they the supplier for the base maybe?

Any darkroom materials announcements these days are cause for celebration. Looking forward to trying this new paper out.

I've been using Ilford paper for some time now (also have some Agfa & Kodak too)
This is good news...My local but not too close Samy's Camera carries mostly Ilford...me happy too...

Frances is about to try some in the darkroom. It's strange-feeling stuff, more like thin card than paper, at least when dry (I've just been slicing up test strips).

Cheers,

R.

I believe it's the paper that the German darkroom-magician Wolfgang Moersch has tested recently - look through the results in his gallery

If Wolfgang is testing the paper, lith prints are to be expected.

I like how the new Ilford produces the brown color, but not too sure about the grain. Seems pronounced. But all that means is someone would have to pick the subject (and negative) more carefully. I like the one with the fortress (??) wall.

I suppose that what looks like the grain the above linked gallery is how the surface texture of the paper looks after scanning.

It's gorgeous. Frances is hand-colouring some right now. Not ideal for scanning, though, because of the pronounced surface texture. Haven't tried it for lith yet...

Cheers,

R.
