New member...which Leica to buy?

I'm fairly certain the one in the auction is a Brass one, although I don't claim to be an expert so someone might want to check that out.

Edit:5 minutes left and it's at 550 dollars!

I would vote for an M4-P - as well built as any Leica, all the frame lines (28,35,50,75,90,135), quick load, no electronics to fail, and should be well within your budget.

Some argue that the finder is cluttered- but it can useful for someone new to rangefinders to be able to see how they can frame the image with another lens.

Thanks for the tips! I don't know what people are talking about with the "cluttered viewfinder." After usings a modern SLR like the Eos 3, the M5 or M4 is pratically barren! I have been shooting with a Bessa-R for a few years so the viewfinder shift isn't much of an issue...

Some people consider the viewfinders cluttered when they show two frames at the same time, such as 50 & 75 mm. This is only applicable to cameras with all 6 frames (M4-P, M6, M7, MP).

(The 50/75 setup is the only one I find irritating, it's quite a big difference between the 35/135 and 28/90 frames if you ask me. If you can't remember whether you put a 28 or 90mm lens on your camera, go see a physician!)
