[New test photos released] Leica Summicron 35/2 Eight Element copy made in China

Emile, once again excellent test shots all around. Thanks ever so much for taking the time to post them. I can tell you from my own testing, the LLL can flare badly when shot at f2 when the bright light source is somewhat towards the corners/edge of the frame and quite pronounced blurring occurs. I posted these LLL lens images here in this thread a few months ago and reposting one here now. Please note, the first two images of this flare are crops of the full frame. First image taken at f2 and the second image taken at f4. To be fair, the sun was reflecting straight down at an angle off the car's window (glass) and was extremely harsh.

The 3rd and forth images are full frame shots, at f2 and f4 respectively. They are completely unadjusted and focus is on the tree truck.

Dealers in China have a good supply of both M and LTM, as seen on fb.

Geez. Bolsters Emile's inside information. You guys really did get a deal for $500! Images look amazing.

At almost $1600 a pop on the Bloated Auction Site when tax is included (for a lens with seemingly no QC inspection), I was offered a pristine set of Zeiss lenses (50/4 CF FLE, 80/2.8 and a 150/4) for the same sum to accompany a Hasselblad 500 C/M recently gifted to me.

People ought not to lose their reason when drawn to this unicorn impersonator.

Here are some more..and thats it...I'm done for now....got to get back to work ..

I was about a yard from the wall...and the Summaron was slightly shifted in perspective..
OK..

What is a lens test..w/o the wall of shame competition...hahaha...

I only looked at the LLL images. A bit too low rez to be sure, but looks like the very center at f/2 is a bit soft, but the whole frame looks good at f/4. Very different from the experience I had with mine where center at f/2 was pretty much spot on (rangefinder focused), but massively backfocused at f/4 due to focus shift.

Seems like you got a good copy.

Kevin sent me a message last week that he got my lens back from service at the factory. Hopefully I'll have it back relatively soon with performance in line with what I've seen from many others here.

...But for $600-..the LLL might be the last 35mm you will ever need..its a real cracker of a lens! Small sharp..well built..what more could you ask for.

Thank you!
Yes, for $600 it's a great lens, I like single coated lens. I have a Pre 35/2 V4, Summilux pre 35/1.4, Summaron 35/2.8. Would buy the LLL right now. But it's $1,600 now! And that's another story.

Test print. Orange filter, Ilford FP4+ in Pyrocat HD, print on Ilford Cooltone FB (shaky iPhone photo of wet print. I like the contrast of the lens..the shadows don't block up ....more to come when they're dry. Passes the sharpness test in an 11"x14" print
