Guess the sub-$2000 price was a rumour after all ...
About the same price as the newly announced Sony A99. They share a similar, if not the same, sensor.
About $700 cheaper, but still. I can't see the appeal of this, let's be honest, half-assed full frame camera. It is designed SPECIFICALLY to NOT undercut the D800 ... And every little thing was picked at to reduce price apparently. Still, it presents a clear upgrade path for D90/D7000/D300/D300S users ... if they so choose to take on the Full Frame promise.
Why is this a 'half arsed full frame camera' ... but not so the RX1 which lacks a viewfinder?
Please explain! 😀
The European price (2400 € according to Engadget) is not even sub-$3000.http://www.dpreview.com/news/2012/0...with-39-point-af-and-uncompressed-1080p-video

And it seems to be € 2599 here. The street price is always lower, but it must be a lot lower in this case. Or Engadget has the price wrong.A D800 is only € 2699 over here?

The D7000 is half the price. Only advantage of D600 is FX. Is it worth it?
