Can anyone recommend a reliable Nikon repair shop in the US?
My F is dead and the film advance clutch in my F2 is starting to slip (out of a 36 frame roll it usually jams around frame 28).
Thanks in advance

You don't say where you are but I've sent Fs twice to Midwest Camera Repair and they did solid work for a fair price. Online estimate web page too.

West coast, but I'm wiling to ship to anywhere in the US or Canada.
They just need to be reliable. I do some paid work with my cameras and need the Don Goldberg of Nikon shops.

Ever since Pete Smith died in Oct 2011 I have no idea where to send Nikon stuff.
I too would like to know who the Don Goldberg of Nikon is.

Advance Camera in Portland OR. http://www.advancecamera.com/
I bought an F from 1970 a couple of years ago, the last in my little F collection. I knew that the camera almost certainly would need a service but it was a one family owned and in otherwise very nice condition camera.
The slow shutter speed settings did not work and the meter did not work either. Both were fixed and the camera is now as reliable and as accurate as a new.
Jodi Fisher does her magic on these older Nikon's, give them a try.

In the midwest there is Dave's Camera Repair, just west of Detroit.
CLA'd and repaired the film counter on my F that I bought new in '71 that had finally gotten the slows at slow speeds and CLA'd an FS Nikkormat. New seals on both. Reasonable price and turn-around.
