Don't have much time for casual shooting these days but today I escaped for a one hour walk around the neighborhood... So here are some Noctilux shots, keeping the thread up to date

Lately I've been shooting weddings and using the Noct-Nikkor quite a bit. Totally different then the Noctilux.
Here's another shot from yesterday's walk around the block. I took care to add my signature so CK Dexter and friends remember my name.

At the beginning again.
I like the shots in this thread...I'm not sure I'd want a Nocti, simply due to the size, but certainly there are som stunning images created by this lens in the right hands. Thanks for sharing everyone.

I admit to some Noctilux envy. But Ned, I also envy your neighborhood, if you find stuff like this walking around the block.... today I escaped for a one hour walk around the neighborhood... So here are some Noctilux shots, keeping the thread up to date

Yeah Dan, I live in a very hot neighborhood. Not long ago it was called the best, most groovy place alongside NY in North america. I doubt it really earns a second place in a list that includes NY, Miami, Chicago, Toronto, LA and so on but still fun, nonetheless)
Lotsa famous people as well as famous local and worldwide artists on every corner. I even met Bruce Willis who was being filmed for a movie scene right next to my house about 10 years ago... I also live a few houses next to the Bran Van 3000 folks.
All in all, great neighborhood for photographing

One more from the walk...
Just before the smarter crowd starts noticing the light falloff and the overall unsharpness and how a 5000$ lens should not exhibit such flaws, I will have to say the fils has been passed through Photoshop.
And please, I don't want to know who doesn't want to own a noctilux. I don't really care

I like to see the pics that come of this lens. While I would like to use it for things here and there, by and large, regardless of price, it is not a very practical lens for me, so I will not really go out of my way to obtain it.
There is nothing wrong with the Noctilux as a whole. The only thing that ever goes wrong is when people bash the daylights out of it for being expensive and when others tout it as the second coming of Christ.
For what it is worth, I have seen a lot of Leica photography in my years, the very best of it was not shot with a Noctilux.

Wow! I love this shot. Very strong composition. I don't normally see Ansel Adams type photos with the Nocti.

Noctilux it is unique, whether or not you like it.
Noctilux it is unique, whether or not you can afford it.
Myths around unique things are unavoidable and I'm glad that people here is sharing pictures and feelings: please keep on doing!
I'll never spend that amount of money in a lens, but it's because me and not the lens

Which of these last few images are done on f1? I'd like to really know.

Of my 3 posted above - the middle one. The automotive shots were done in daylight conditions with slower film, but I know they aren’t F 1. Do they still exhibit the lens characteristics? I personally think so.
Having paid a few years ago what a new 50 Summicron costs now for the lens – I consider myself lucky. Temptation to sell is tough to fight though.

Ok, this is not a personal attack or bashing anything/anyone. Rather a comment on pics - Ned, while I usually like and enjoy your work, it seems that lately you pay more attention to what others say about the lens and not your photos. They seem to be suffering now in quality and quantity. I remember your older work and it was far better. Now Maddoc and other have you trailing way behind. Again, nothing personal, just an observation.
Great photos Maddoc and Dando! Hope Ned will stop worrying about what others say about Noctilux and spend more time using his. If not, I'll be willing to take it off Ned's hands for a while as long as it's free.
