Noctilux- SO DAMN HARD TO FIND ONE!!!!

the 75 is a close to the nocti in my opionion.

i have an extra one for sale if you consider going that route.

i used the 75 on every shoot until i got my hands on a nocti.

anyhow. that's my contribution.
 
I saw one for sale here in LA on Craiglist a few months ago for around $2000. A steal if one had $2000 handy (which I sadly did not!). My guess is that it was probably already sold by the time I saw it anyway!
 
The one on Ebay is listed as a 50/1.0 ASPH lens. I suspect that the prices might stay low as it is not described correctly. And the seller only has 6 transactions.

So you have to ask your self, "Do I feel lucky today"...Did this seller have 5 good transactions or 6? Think he can do a 7th....

I don't trust the listing. Sounds lifted for someone with so few transaction.

"This Lens is Not 8 Bit coded, " Watch Out! NO 8-BIT CODING! If this thing is real, price will stay low. Maybe asking for a photo with today's newspaper in the image might be a good idea on this one.

I would hold off a bit, I think the new Voigtlander 50mm f1.1 will bring more Noctiluxs onto the used market. I dont want to start a debate about which is better but as others have pointed out its often a lens that sits on the shelf for months at a time till you bring out on those occasions when needed. I think a fair proportion of people may see the new Voigtlander as a good substitute without having a large capital investment sitting idle alot of the time. Im fairly certain this will bring a wave of Noctiluxs to the used market and drive prices down a bit at least down to under the 3000 mark. Unless your desperate for one now, I would wait.

Hey wait a minute! Mine is not 8-bit coded either! Nothing wrong with that... :confused: What gives me pause is that "Immediate payment of US $3,650.00 is required." is stated in the payment area. Looks like the seller intended it to be a BIN and it ended up as a regular auction.

None were made in Germany. Some of the last might say 'Made in Germany', but the lens was designed and manufactured in Canada. At the end the lens cells were sent to Germany from Raytheon (formerly Leitz Midland).

Many thanks....just to clarify, so there are 50/1 Nocti's with "Made In Germany" written on it? but they were designed/manafactured in Canada?

For the last of the F1.0's, the glass is not likely made in Germany, but it's possible parts of the lens are, along with the QA process happened in Germany.

These are fulfillments from the "last" 250 or so 11822 f1.0's and have recent s/n's in the 4M.

The latest ones (ASPHs) are made in Germany, which is why the retail at $10,000 to cover German labor costs.

it was listed as a Buy It Now for $3650, that's why i posted it on here. i guess someone bid on it before superdan could get to it...
