Nokton 50mm F1.1 ... chromatic aberrations?

Hey all, just wanted to chip in my 2 cents about the Nokton 50mm F1.1 ...

I enjoyed shooting a few shots with this lens on my Bessa R3A last week. I found it to be a very good quality lens. The versatility of having such a wide aperture was quite helpful.

After getting my Ektar 100 negatives back from the lab, I scanned them into my Epson v700 and noticed an issue with CA (chromatic aberrations) ... readily apparent with bright / dark contrasty edges, as seen in this photo. Check out the edges of the drum cymbals for a "purple glow".

I mean, overall this is a great lens -- but if this were a Canon or Nikon product, people would be making a huge fuss over this. Or am I missing something here?

Any thoughts?

I think it would be near impossible to produce an APO lens with such speed. What aperture did you have here?

I was hand-held shooting, in a retail store with overhead halogen lights ... using 100 ISO film, so it wasn't ideal lighting. I think I managed to squeeze out 1/30th at F2.0 or so.

No.

Pretty sure the Canon 85/1.2 L has some heavy CA. People seem to like that lens a lot.

I really shouldn't complain, I think you're going to find chromatic aberrations in virtually all lenses under certain conditions. But I was somewhat surprised to find such an amount of CA with this high-quality lens. I suppose it would be prudent to use slightly smaller apertures to avoid the issue.
