The only problem I have found with the plastic clasps is that even the sturdy high-quality ones do eventually break.

Chris, I agree that some of the plastic clips break, but I've also have a bicycle messenger bag that I've been using since 1988 with the same type of plastic clips, and have never had a problem with them. Also had them on my old Tamrac 608 bag, bought in 1993, which I completely wore out, but the clips on that never broke either.
Hoping these last a while, but if not, I'll just put on a new set.
Best,
-Tim

I'm happy with my Thinktank Retrospective 5, which closes with velcro (and you can even adjust how much velcro is in contact, to make it quieter if desired). Looking over all their shoulder bags, it seems the Retrospective 30 is similar in size to the F2. https://www.thinktankphoto.com/pages/shoulder-bags
I second Think Tank bags. I love mine. Discreet, very functional and easy to manage.

While I can see this happening, I've never had a plastic fastener fail on any backpack of bag in over 30 years. The only problem I have found with the plastic clasps is that even the sturdy high-quality ones do eventually break.

Why not have someone extend the cover flap of the Domke, so it can fold over more fully like a messenger bag cover? I was thinking about doing this to my F2, but then ended up with the A&A bag I've been using forever now. That bag has a pocket in the flap, so my batteries, spent films, and a Larabar are in there, keeping it weighted down enough to stay shut.
