Now it can be asked - Is the M8.2 worth almost 2x the M8?

Used, excellent condition M8s can now be had for around $3,500 or less. Given the fact that the M8 and M8.2 have exactly the same picture making HW and SW, is the M8.2 worth almost 2x its predecessor? What say you?

Whatever the merits of the 8.2, it was born into an economic disaster that will likely keep most of them on dealer's shelves and not in the hands of photographers. Not a great time to introduce a high-end rangefinder.

If I needed a second body I would opt for used M8 before buying a new 8.2.

People who can shell out for a new Leica are not usually worrying about paying off the mortgage. Just think of the statement you could make by having one during a recession. It will be interesting to see how sales go.

I still do not see the logic behind introducing the S2 when FF 35mm DSLRs are already approaching that level of quality without having to buy a whole new set of lenses.

Of course I am a dumb, broke, photographer, what do I know 😀

When you own a small business you must buy a certain amount of equipment every year or you end up giving the money to Uncle (who will just give it to some #@*#@ wall street banker)... so you might as well buy another Leica... or computer... or printer.
