i always carry a knife in my jeans pocket...and my father's advice to me...'if ever attacked by a group, take one in each arm and go down taking at these those 2 with you'.
I carry a gentileman's knife, made especially effective by my narrow shoulders and extra long arms. Because I'm bowlegged I'm particularly agile.
I don't carry my spring assisted knife anymore. I love the nasty clank when it opens, but after being stopped by the cops a few times on the subway, I found it a little too bulky to carry in my pants pocket.
BTW getting stabbed really hurts.

John,
The back story is I stabbed myself in the kneecap to the bone when flounder fishing on Lawn-Guy-Land. I was closing a buck knife that was a lock-blade against my leg. This was standard procedure to look hype and cool, but since I was cutting up some worms and was crouched down I inadvertently stabbed myself in the knee by accident.
I looked at the bloody knife (worm blood, not my own) sticking in my knee like a tough guy feeling no pain, but when I pulled out the knife that's when it hurt like a Mo-Fo. It was so painful that I just held my breath, and if I could beath I would of yelled out for my mother even though I was a grown man, it hurt that much.
Moral of the story is never stab yourself.
