New York NYC March Meet-Up

So, is there a March meet-up or only an April one?

John,

Looks like April 5th is the next Meet-Up.

Meanwhile I'm printing a lot and need to order some more paper and ink. I think I will tone down the warmth a bit by diluting the warm neutral with some selenium for my own custom signature blend.

I'm mailing out another Piezography reference print and file to Digital Silver Imaging today for another set of 20x30's. Should have another print for the next meet-up. Should have over a hundred "work" prints by then also (8 1/2X11's)

BTW I love digital printing on my set-up. The next challenge will be scaling things up to print 13x19 and 17x22 and figuring out the different paper handling.

Bob,

Totally off topic, last year found a 1960 Fender Brown Super Amp for only $1100.00. My version has the extra tube in the vibrato and the early circiut that makes it sound like a 50's tweed amp. Re-issue Jensen P10R's and replaced tranny's from Mercury Magnetics.

The amp simply was dropped off at my friend's guitar shop customer when I was out on Long Island visiting friends. It is all a matter of good timing and having the wisdom to buy.

BTW this is at an unheard of price for this amp. Also know I am a tube amp nerd and have a 300B monoblocks.

Cal,

That's a fantastic deal on the Fender, prices for those are though
the roof, and 300b monoblocks wow, takes some pictures I would like
to see them at the next meet.

Bob,

Sure. Great soundstage. Sometimes I got a "ghost" experience and many startle responses due to the 3-D illusion when I was alone and felt a presence due to the recording I was listening. My loft with 14 foot ceilings was great for this, but not the same in my 1 bedroom apartment.

I'm running "straight eights." No flabby bass on my set-up.

Ok, I wonder if my new Df will survive until that date... 😉

Good for you man... glad to see you churning them out!

I felt a little awkward on the street with Cal's F3 (nice as it is), so I think I understand if you don't hold on to that one.

Well, it's a lot bigger than the F3, so it is a little weird for me. However, I have to say I like using it and the results are very nice. It might be worth dealing with. I wish it was F3 size.

Well Bob, I think there are equally as many that like big cameras. I'm a small camera guy generally, but these days I am more into things that fit what I want to accomplish in photography. There's no doubt that the Df, being a DSLR, is just quick and reacts well. Unfortunately, it is bloated...but not too bad. And I still have other cameras for when I need something small.

Funny thing is that I love either big cameras or small ones, and don't care much for midsize. To me the small rigs are kinda sporty, but my big rigs are like SUV's.

I kinda understand the notion of a F3 being not small enough. In this reguard I much more prefer my fully rigger F3P with MD-4 over an awkard midsized camera that is not sporty like a small camera, nor big, rough, and tuff like a SUV.

That D-4 sensor though is kinda like having a big block in a midsized car that would be better served in a smaller car for higher performance. An example is the new BMW M3 that has about 540 HP in a rather small chassis.

Christian, How's the Olympus OM-4 doing? Bob

I'm liking it a lot actually. It is a really nice package with a smaller lens. I got it to use with larger lenses, which aren't as well balanced, but it still is nice.

John, you should mount Cal's shift lens on that Nikon to check the infinity focus. That adjustment is much easier to verify on a digital body.

You guys can mess with that... I'm MF immune on Nikons... they focus the WRONG way! I can only manual focus Leicas. The only MF lenses I'd use on the Nikon are old "character" lenses... 😉. Unless it's a Leica, I'm into AF and modern lenses mostly.

That is why mounting an olympus lens makes sense. It focuses the right way.

Your right John, I have the Canon EOS1ds which is big and when I need
it small I go for the Panasonic of Fuji.
