We haven't been in contact with Phil about any of this. I kind of want him to be surprised once he sees the thread. I'm sure the bag will come in handy as well. :)

Yes, that needs to be stressed here. This a group effort and shows we have good hearted people here. I will donate $50 myself by the way. So we are really up to $225.

I already did, and I also called my salesman Gary at Adorama, but the Nikon D2X that was available disappeared. I hadn't heard back from Helen yet, but Gary informed me there was little he could do because it was so close to the Passover Holiday, and they were in the process of closing down.

Hey, I think that guy is just up the road from me! Can't contact him, though, as my account on Nikonians was deleted at some point in the past.:rolleyes: If I can help contact this person, let me know because that price is a killer deal! I suppose the question is whether a replacment D2Hs or a D2Xs?

Edit:

It turns out via emails, that the seller works a block away from our rehab in Buckhead! I plan to meet him anyway just to talk photography in general!
 
Looks like Dave lackey will look into a $700 Nikon D2Xs for us.

I have to admit, I know nothing of these Nikon DSLRs... the specs (which I can look up) or the used prices. Help with this would be appreciated in determining the best option.
 
That D2XS is an excellent deal. Super low actuations...it will do great work for Phil for a long time if it ends up being "the one".
