My son tried to grab my CL tonight, so I got it first and snapped a pic of him even though I knew there was no film in it. (He's two, he doesn't know the difference, and at least he's stopped buggin me to see the back of this camera.) I went to advance the film and the winder only moved a little bit? I popped off the back and the shutter was stuck half way. I jiggled the camera to no avail, so I had some tweezer and just nudged the shutter and it closed. There was a piece of film that must have come off when I was winding or unwinding the last roll and was stuck at the edge of the frame. (I roll my own, so maybe it was a remnant from the last developing cycle. I haven't developed the roll yet.)

Once removed the CL hummed along like a champ. Besides running a role of film, any thoughts on diagnostics to make sure its running well?

Seriously run a roll. I had that happen once while I owned a CL and another time with a Canon IVSb. The only thing you might do if you have a fairly low suction vaccuum, is to run it over the rails of your shutter.

Man. That happened to me 3 weeks ago (on an M4P.) I was shooting at 1/15th of a second and the shutter jammed open. I took it to the repair guy, who held down the 'R' lever and cocked the shutter. Unfortunately I rewound the entire roll of film with no lens cap, not realizing the shutter was open.

There was a line down the entire roll! The problem has not repeated, and Joe, the repair guy said it was a bit of film in the mechanism.
