I think there is a lot of overkill in the computer-security propaganda - inevitable I suppose, but it does cause some not very digital-minded persons to overreact.

I wouldn't want to take on that stress on my hosting setup unless I paid for the dedicated server arrangement.
Yes, I was advocating dedicated hosting. I think we agree.

But that has only happened once to me. Not bad for 30 years in the field.
The switching power supplies could not keep up with the DMA/CPU-Intensive bursts. They caught fire. FPS-120b on a Vax 11/780 for you old guys. Some of my simulation code took 30 days to run.
One time I had a printer start shooting sprockets out of it. One got stuck in a ceiling tile. and a TI thermal printer shoot flames through the paper. I found some undocumented Opcodes on the TI-58 programmable calculator.
And a line-printer that started shooting paper 5 feet into the air.
And that was before I networked to anything.
Brian, did you ever think about writing a book ?
LOL, some of your stories are plain hilarious

Unless you have decided to post some personal information - i.e. full name, address, phone number, credit card information, Social security number (or Social insurance number) etc. etc. etc. there's no risk/concern if someone hacks this site.
The lot of you who are complaining should take a big step away from the computer and just relax - I love this site as much as the next guy but getting all upset over "missing posts" and numbers and such isn't the end of the world.
Hey.. if it's stressing you out that much just go take a walk outside and take some photos.. and you'll inevitably come across a homeless person who's thinking about where his/her next meal is coming from.. and hopefully this will resolve you of any stress that you may have had.

If they hack the user passwords and some RFF members have the same user name and password on eBay, that could be a problem.
