Old Nikkor S 1.4. 50mm lens circa 1958.

Does anyone know if this lens is coated? Is it single or multicoated? It is the black with silver front ring. TIA.

They are definitely coated - I am almost certain they were single-coated. Very hard, resilient coating - resisted scratching very well.

Single coating, which means all the surfaces have a single coat. Nikon coatings were among the finest in the 1950s. The coatings hold up very well despite their age and contribute to the lens's sharpness.

Like the others said, Tony. Sounds like a Nikon, not an LTM mount lens, though.
