got the bags but i'm thinking maybe a better tripod for the 300.
i have a great photo on my wall taken years ago with a 300, could have been an om. have no idea where the slide is though. i took it handheld but these days the hands are not as steady.

the best part is how cheap this gear is now. i remember when it came out and i was buying it new and saving for it.
and having to plead my case to wife #1...ughh!
including the 300, all this gear will have cost about 300 bucks.
i just spent 1200 on the zeiss and the cheapest zm lens is 600 bucks.

Damn, Joe, it was a little over a decade ago that I had an OM-4T, OM-3, plus a 180mm f/2.8, 100mm f/2, and 35-70 f/3.6, plus a 300 f/4.5 that I used probably three times before getting rid of it (I just don't mix with teles above 135mm). All I have now, SLR-wise, is an OM-2n inherited from a dear friend who couldn't deal with manual focus any more (she's in her 60s...I told her to buy a Canon Elan 7) with just a 50mm f/1.8 and a set of extension tubes for close-up work, which is about all I use the camera for. Great camera system...wish they'd adopt more of the OM philosophy with their E-series digitals (instead of just pretending to).back alley said:

Shot countless wedding in the 80's and 90's with my trusty OM1 and Mamiya 645. The OM1 did all the candid and low light stuff inside the church - so quiet! Still have it but fungus and mould have taken over
But I always wanted an OM2 and picked one up a couple of weeks ago on ebay - God they're cheap - just have to find a good one.
No camera I've ever owned feels as good in the hands as an OM.
Will be developing the first film (HP5) tonight and will post some images if any take my fancy.

Barrett has already responded to Joe's need for a hood for the 28/3.5, but this is not correct. I think it's just a typo. The hoods (both metal and rubber varieties) that fit the 50/1.4 and 50/1.8 also can be used on the 35/2.8, not the 28/3.5. The 28/3.5 and 28/2.8 take the same hood, which is a flared, screw-in unit.Wayne R. Scott said:

I still have my black OM1n I bought new back in 1980. I added a Om2s a decade later and a OM4 which I sold to a member here. I've always longed for the Zuiko 18mm lens. Enjoy it Joe, it is a wonderful system.
