One camera, one lens and one roll of film

I'm assuming this is a joke since there is nothing on Kodak's site. But oh, if only true; Panatomic and K25 ... be still my heart.

back to reality.
Let's see - SLR would be F3HP/T, Kiron 105mm macro lens and Velvia 100F (Bogen tripod of course)
RF would be the Olympus SP, lens attached with Y2 filter and Ilford XP2.

Any

Any

RF any leica any 50mm (when i get the money)
SLR my old cosina csm 50mm
Film Hp5 spanked up to 1600 in poor light 640 to 800 in ok light all processed in Id11 not diluted.

Id take any lens from 35 to 60 and adapt. id also use any 35mm cam, but ive always loved Hp5 though i fancy trying some of the old tech films.

Imagine if you will, you had to choose one and only one camera, lens and roll of film.

What would your choice be?

Film gear? That is very tough. Not all situations call for the same gear. It would be a tough decision between:

Leica M6 + 50mm Summitar + Tri-X

or

Leica R8 + 50mm Summicron-R + Fuji Provia 100F

Nikon S3
W-Nikkor 3.5cm f/1.8
and, to shake things up, Kodak B&W 400 C41 film. I've shot hundreds, perhaps thousands of rolls of HP-5 and truly love it, but I've just gotten fond of the new chromogenic stuff (I assume there's a one-hour photo shop on the desert isle).

Rolleiflex E, 75mm f3.5 Planar, HP5+

or in rangefinder:

M3, 50mm Summicron DR, Fuji Neopan 400

For me, M2, also the DR

2 out of 3 ain't bad?

BW400, only sensible choice until I stop renting.

After much fretting over which of either the Hexanon-M-50/2 or the CV-25/4, I'd say:

A black Bessa-T, a black CV25/4 with finder and a roll of Fuji NPH..

Hmmm depends on the light :
> medium scenario : M2 + Rokkor 2/40 + Fuji Superia 800
> daylight : M2 + Rokkor 2/40 + Fuji Provia 100F + meter !
> no light : M2 + Rokkor 2/40 + Kodak TMZ 3200

i think i'd change mine to a canon p with 35/1.8 lens and maybe tri-x.

joe

How did you start off with a 50mm lens? That just isn't you.

Well, M3, 50mm Summicron and TriX. I would use it like a fancy P&S.

Custom made Leica MP + Noctilux and TriX

Or in non RF: Nikon F5 and a big-ass zoom lens with a huge constant aperture and fuji sensia 400.

From what I already have.. film is Tri-X.
35mm RF, Leica IIIa + 50/2 Summar
120 RF, Moska 5
4x5, Anniversary Speed Graphics w/ 135 Tessar.
SLR, Eos 350D + 400/5.6 🙂

Wishlist, still Tri-X for film.
35mm RF, MP + Summicron 50/2 or Xpan II w/ 45mm
120 RF, one of the folding Fuji's.
4x5 RF, Linhof Technica
SLR, Eos 1DsMkII + 1200/5.6 and a really good tripod 😀.

OK, I can't resist questions like this.
Today: Bessa T with 35/2.5p and mini finder (...or the Nikon S2 with 50/1.4, or just the GR1s, but why not the GIIIql, maybe even the FE2 with 35/1.4 instead...)
In the future: MP with 35mm pre-asph Summilux
loaded with Kodak Portra 160NC

Konica Hexar AF with Ilford PanF+ for daylight, Neopan 1600 for available light.

OR

Leica M2, M-Hexanon 50mm F/2, Fuji Neopan.

35mm rangefinder for reportage work: Voigtlander Bessa-R, Color-Skopar 35/2.5, Ilford HP5 Plus.
35mm reflex for other purposes: Praktica B-200, Carl Zeiss Prakticar 50/1.4, Ilford Delta 100 or Efke 100
Medium format: Rolleiflex Automat MX (1951 model, not the best vintage but that's what I have), Ilford Delta 400
Large format: MPP Micro Technical Mk VII, Carl Zeiss Tessar 15cm/6.3, Ilford HP5 Plus.
