One camera, one lens, one film

This is a hard question. Mainly because I don't own the mechanical camera I would trust the most. A Nikon F or F2 with the standard 50mm f2 Nikkor and with the plain non meter prism. From every thing I've read and from others experiences this sounds like the most reliable SLR ever made.

Ah yes, almost forgot, film! Well I've shot a lot of Tri-X so that would be fine. Never thought about chemicals and long shelf life but how about HC110 decanted into airtight 4oz amber bottles and fixer sealed as a powder in measured containers. That and a nikor tank and reel. (that I've have had for 45 years already)

True. But even for Fs I've had one repair I couldn't do and two I could (film counters). Half as many as for M-series Leicas, that have been used a lot harder...

I'm pretty boring. I'd take any film M apart from the M3, M5, M6TTL or M7, any Leica 35mm lens at f/2 or faster, and any 200-400 speed film. Easy.

I don't think I'd bother with the bunker as there are obviously a lot of bomb and disaster proof film processing labs about with power etc that will be completely independent of the outside world...

Or have I misunderstood something?

I recall a recent NHK ( Japanese TV ) program explaining that underground e.g. in the subway, is safer than above ground during an earthquake.

only once experienced an earthquake 4.2...to some thats just a tiny quake but it was in the uk and scared the living daylights out of me and it only lasted 5 seconds🙂

I think this is the camera that would break my heart most severely if anything happened to it, but It would hurt me to leave my Mamiya TLRs, lenses, and accessories behind, too. Then again, my Minolta SR-T 102 and 85mm f1.7 lens are a helluva nice combination, also.

But I prefer reflex focusing and so I think Nikon is probably one of the best. But I've heard good things about Topcon too.

... or M5 + Lux 50 Pre-ASPH + Tri-X. 😉
