One month with the M6

Well, I've had the M6 for a month now. Photographically, it hasn't been a productive month; my work has been hell with travel and meetings and missed deadlines and all the sort of crap that gets in the way of actually enjoying life. Half ready to throw away corporate life and go and do some low paid but enjoyable work somewhere......
Anyway, that aside, the M6 hasn't left my side. (Preciousssssssss)
While I was in the States I picked up a grip (less than half the price than here in Aus) also a Summicron 35 rectangular hood, which fits the CV Ultron 35 perfectly.
I LOVE this camera!
I love it's feel, the way it works, everything. If only I could live up to it's standards. (and forget the cost!)
It was worth every cent.
Only caveats so far.......
I stress about burning the shutter curtains. Am I being stupid stressing about this, or does normal care cover it?
I want a Summicron 35 to go with it now.......... :angel:

Very nice shots Tim. That CV Ultron 35 looks sharp! Don't stress too much about the shutter curtain, I don't give it a second thought but I also use a sun shade on all of my lenses which may cut down on the probability of a stray ray getting to the curtain.

I would not really worry too much about burning a hole in the shutter curtain if you are just carrying it around with the cap off. Just make sure that the camera is pointed horizontally or downward and that it moves around a bit. I think the only time you really have to worry about burning holes in the shutter is if you leave it facing up on a table or dashboard or something. If you are out on a walkabout or something you might want to keep a lens cap on it, but if you are just out for a stroll on Manley Beach, I don't think you will have any problems.

It looks like you're off to a good start with that M6, Tim. Don't worry too much about feeling "worthy" of it; once you're truly comfortable with it, you will be.

Echoing Stuart... don't agonize too much over a burned curtain if it hasn't happened to you. It probably won't. In any case, I carry my camera with lens uncapped (neither my 28 nor my 35 have caps), I make sure it moves, never point at the sun for too long, and close the lens down to f16 if you're not using it.

Good shots, by the way. Don't fret over a Summicron: you're doing well with the Ultron already! 🙂
