I can't seem to come up with a good idea for a photo set/series. I just end up walking around aimlessly not knowing what to shoot when I'm out. And I live in London where there's enough material. I just don't know what I'm doing.

Just go out and photograph anything until an idea comes to you. I just photograph and put them into series later once I see common elements. However, I guess that really depends on what you want out of your photos and what your influences are. I tend to find that if I worry about having a preconceived series or set, I end up not photographing as much. As an amateur who loves being out with a camera, I'd rather keep my options open and be happy.

I've been there myself plenty of times. My suggestions would be to vary your daily routine (don't take the same route as you usually do), take a day trip somewhere new, or shoot early in the morning or late at night. Oftentimes just a change in lighting will give new perspective even to subjects you've seen a million times. I also find this time of year especially challenging here in New England where I live, when there is so little color outside and everything just looks, well, blah.

I'm not sure this addresses your question about ideas for sets/series, but for me those things tend to take care of themselves when I am shooting frequently.
