The ad posted by digitalintrigue mentions that some wide angle M mount lenses will not work with the adapter. The leica Super Angulon and the Voigtlaender 28/2 Ultron are both mentioned specifically. The ZM Biogon 25/2.8, on the other hand, will work.

Yup.
On a different note, is the term "NG" even English?
Japanese engineers just love to use the term "NG" (meaning No Good) as the opposite of ok, passed, successful etc. Drives me nuts to see it used in English translations as an English term :bang:
Heh, is there a Japanese term equivalent to "SOL"

Hari Kari? *o) What I would like Stephen to answer (if he is able to at this point) are which specific CV lenses WILL work? I'm interested in any of the primes from the 50mm down to your previously mentioned 15mm, with the most desirable ones to me being the faster wide primes (like the 35/1.4, the 28/2 [alas!] and, yes, the Zeiss lenses)Heh, is there a Japanese term equivalent to "SOL"![]()

Not that I know of, but there is one for LOL

A micro 4/3 that can mount the CV15, the CV40/1.4 and the Hexanon 50/2 could make a nice complement to an R3A at a believable price (unlike an M8!) without taking up too much bag space. Now, if only you could get one without the kit lens.

I wonder if this voids the Pany's warranty

Hahaha! You see it all the time in Taiwan, too.
Guess those translations are "NG"!

I guess it'll be interesting and fun to try M lenses on M4/3rds, but for the most part, aren't you going to end up with a lot of strange FOVs?
You fast 35s and 50s become portrait lenses...that might be cool...but your 15mm f4.5 just becomes an incredibly slow 30mm. I'm not seeing that as a great thing.
I'm very much interested in one of these cameras, but they need to provide their own good lenses before I'll want to buy one.

In practical terms, having to use very slow lenses for normal to wide views is not really appealing. Not a lot of Leica/Zeiss/Voigtlander M-mount f/1.4 lenses out there in the 10-25mm range.

On the other hand, a slow 21mm might make a nice daylight street shooter. f11 and everything from 4 feet to infinity is good. 15mm at f8, 3 ft to infinity.
Yes, a 2x crop factor is not ideal, but considering it's possible to pick up one of these for under $500...I'd just use the kit lens for wide angle (28mm equiv.) and use a Nokton 40/1.4 for a fast, tiny Summilux equivalent (80/1.4.) Unless you already have a CV 15, there is no point to that lens except it is very small.
What's nice, is I could use all my Nikon F glass too. My ancient 55/3.5 Micro becomes a 110/3.5 micro, and is extremely easy to focus with the magnified live view.

Sure, you wouldn't set out to design a G1 system based on most of that glass, but if you already have the glass it look slike a nice application for it.
Pana has announced a 20/1.7 pancake for next year.
Having in-body VR with a micro 4/3 lens mount would be great...hang a Nikkor 135/2 on it for a 270/2 equivalent with VR!

It would be perfect if Kobayashi-san would make some M4/3 lenses.
New shots using M lenses (Summitar 1.5, 35 'lux) and the G1...

Ok, it wil have its limitations, but we can work around them can't we?
A smaller body than the G1, with VR and M and F adapters, that would just be so useful!
Let's see, Summicron 50mm becomes a 100, great for portraiture.
CV 25 becomes a slowish (but sharp) 50.
I have an old 28-70 f2.8 knocking around for Nikon F, would be a great concert zoom, especially with in body VR (which Nikon does not offer).
And maybe Cosina would be so nice as to make a few wide 4/3 primes? We can but hope...

What's cool, is this is just the beginning.

One of the really exciting things about the G1 is that it can be used from the waist with the LCD used for focusing. Critical focusing can be accomplished with a couple of button presses which allows zooming in on the subject.
I went to a street fair yesterday and no one noticed that I was photographing them. No one looks twice at the little G1 in your hand down by your waist. I was using the kit lens which is better than most kit lenses, but I'm really excited to get the M adapter and use some of my M lenses on the G1.

Cindy, you are exactly right. No one is really talking about this, but it is huge...not only is the G1 pretty much invisible, it's doubly invisible when you can literally shoot from the hip. Add the fact of being able to focus an M lens precisely, instead of having to use hyperfocal or pre-set, is also huge...
There are events I attend where I'd never take my D700 because people know you are photographing them. I won't hesitate to take the little G1 which is so innocuous.
