Panatomic-X

Was with the wife the other day at a garage sale and instead of finding somenold LP's I found four boxes of 35mm Panatomic-X film dated 8/82. So of course I buy it for $10.00. I used this film back in the day. Want to shoot some of this and develop it in either Rodinal or D76. Not sure about the time or maybe stand developing? As always thanks for any advice and comments.

I would use D-76 myself. I traded somebody here a couple of years ago and got 100' of 1982 Pan-X. Also one of my favorite films of the seventies. Most likely yours is fine, it usually is. Slow films tolerate age better than faster ones. Use it sparingly. 🙂

My old Darkroom Data Guide shows 9 minutes for D-76 1:1 @ 68
(7 minutes for HC110 Dilution B)

FWIW, HC-110 is nice for old film, as it has slightly lower base fog than D-76 or (probably) Rodinal

I would suggest D-76 rather than Rodinal, which has a base fog.
It might get real bad with old film.
Using HC-110, am amazed at the clean negatives.
Suggest exposing a few frames and cutting it out of camera.
Not possible with Leica.
See how it develops and scans or prints.

Definitely D-76. It will come out wonderfully. I have tried a roll of Panatomic-X in 135 format with D-76 1+1 and had great results with minimal fog. I had it presoaked for 5 minutes though.
