Pentax 67 Gas!

I have both the Pentax 6x7 II and the Pentax 6x7 w/MLU. I've used all lenses from 45mm to 200mm. I bought the system specifically for a documentary I did for 8 months on a farm. I was also using a Hasselblad at the time. When I published my book, I was surprised to see the quality of the Pentax to be on par or even better than my Hasselblad. I was scared at first as I read lots of reviews about the "mirror slap" and all that fear mongering. It's bull. But I also had the wooden handle and contorted my arms to make like a tripod and everything was fine. It really just depends on your technique. You might have to use the MLU with 1/60 and slower, but once you position yourself accordingly, you can take crisp, clear and sharp photos down to 1/8, which is what I managed to do. The Hasselblad obviously has various benefits/differences such as interchangeable backs, square negs, different perspective, etc. But the Pentax 6x7 is the best medium format system I've used in terms of "bang for you buck". And the negatives will more than make up for your.....you know what.
 
No mirror lock, no wooden grip, just normal shooting. It feels like the camera vibrates a lot but I think most of the actual vibration happens after the shutter has closed. To be honest, I find my 5d harder to handhold at low shutter speeds. Probably because it's lighter.
 
The shoe project totally aside from the Pentax issue is interesting. Was it just based on women's shoes ?

What made you come up with the idea in the first place?

Thanks. No equally number of men/women shoes. Stems from a late night with beer :) at the club I saw great looking women shoes, asked if I could take a picture of them which was accepted. Laer on we started to work out more detailed outlines for it. It is now showed in one of the major galleries in Stockholm. Read more about the project here. www.grain.se (It's in English)

I'd love to see the exhibition but a little far to travel! :p
 
Thanks for the great candid photos out and about. I have a bunch of 800 color and Delta 3200 that needs to be put to good use.

I had trouble with the 90 LS

I am sure I didn't cock the leaf shutter but all the pictures I made with are not working, just empty frames

boring :(
 
the day before it worked, Itested it because I new it could cause some trouble

maybe I cocked it without being concious; mybe it cokcked in the bag but that's quite weird

I will get a 105 one day :) if the 55 + 135 are not enought
