andted to call the thread people asking to get shot but it sounds bad.

Wht is your policy when people ask for their picture taken?
(Usually kids and young women.)

I always say smile and take 1-2 pics cause even if I didnt want to photograph that specific person the photography gods will reward your generosity(and lack of shots left on the last roll)with good pics later on that day.

One of my favorite "tricks"is taking a pic with my yashicamat 124g when people who never seen one stare at it.

I usually oblige. Sadly, I hardly ever get asked by young women. If ever asked, it's usually by youths of the male persuasion.

I had an e-mail today requesting that I take pictures of a film crew. I asked if there were any women in this crew and the answer was, yes. So I said, yes.

Concerning your question, if asked, I always do it. Why not?

my major problem, actually not a problem, but sometimes a hassle, is that people see me shooting, or carrying something official looking like the Pentax 645NII which I used to have, and invariably gravitate towards me to take pictures of them (with their cameras). Not a problem, but sometimes I feel like i have to REALLY focus on the shot, like it really matters (because it does to the people), but like if I blow it, my photographic soul will evaporate.

I have never had people ask me to shoot them just for my own interest though - not on the street. Models, families, etc have, but that is different.

Every now and again, someone will make a face or dodge out of hte way while I shoot, and become an animate part of the shot, but that is about as close as I get to attracting wannabe subjects.

Michael,
Why not? The worst that can happen is you lose a frame of film, which in the long run is nothing. How much film do we "waste" on a daily basis anyway?

Most likely, even if you really don't want to take the picture, something will come of it...you will learn something about composition, and portraiture. One of the best ways to become a better photographer is to make things you don't really like or have no interest in look good.

Maybe you're jaded...when I was in Israel, I discovered that that was the place where the most beautiful women in the world live...and the largest concentration of them. I couldn't believe how many stunning young women I saw! If you're married, maybe that is a mixed blessing, but if you're single, take their picture, and then buy them a drink!

Cheers

If they ask me to photograph them I need to make it nice for them.

And I have to make a print and take it back to wherever they were.

But, yes, I do it.

I take it that you were never in Winnipeg and in the summer and at Grand Beach?

I think I have been to Winnipeg, but it doesn't stand out in my mind. I certainly was never at a beach in Winnipeg...
I dare anybody to tell me a place with more stunningly beautiful women than Israel. There are beauties everywhere (a product of evolution no doubt) but somehow they seem to have concentrated the gene pool a bit in Israel.

On the other hand, those same women become Babushki much earlier in life than French women, for example.

Working for a newspaper and carrying around a Nikon d1-h with long glass I am always noticed. People run up to me at football games, parades, house fires whatever asking to have their photo made.

So I'll snap it and when they ask when will it run in the newspaper, I just smile and hand them my card saying call me if you want a print.

I find carrying a business card really helps with people asking for prints, which is usually why they want their picture made. Most times they just stuff it in a pocket or purse and forget about it by the next day.

Others are just looking for their 15 minutes or feel the need to harass me while I work LOL.

Israeli women are indeed beautiful(I've traveled europe exstensivley so I have a point of reference),and they are very different from each other because of diferent ethnicities (the largest jewish ethnicities in Israel are jews from eastern europe, north africa, asia, ethiopia, argentina etc.). But they have their disadvantages.

The girl who has two of her pictures is my girlfriend Anna

hey, if it's young women, i will be glad to do so
and start some conversation on it🙂
If i really really don't want to do it, the minolta af slr i have comes in handy. I press the DOF preview button and it makes a sound very similar to the shutter release🙂

Bobofish, Several years ago Playbay rated Winnipeg #2, just after Miami. Winnipeg and Montreal were the 2 largest Jewish communities in Canada. Hey! Monty Hall is from Winnipeg. I know one of his nephews. His real name was Halprin. 😉

I'd say Holland has the most beautiful women in the world.

Well, think about it: RML is dutch, he lives in the Netherlands, he gotta know if this is true.
He is getting married to a girl from Mongolia.
LOL.

But i agree, plenty of beauties here. However, i've noticed one thing: Whenever i go to a new place, the women seem to be much more beautiful than where i come from.

Beautiful women all over the world! Saying that "Here are the most beautiful." is like saying "This is the best camera or lens." It's purely subjective isn't it?

To dissuade someone who asks to have their picture taken, just say, "Sure. Do you do nudes?" If they say, "Yes," ask, "With animals?" If they say, "Yes," then run away, 'cuz you're in over your head.

Never found a woman here that was and beautiful and a joy to be around for very long. 🙂
Less attractive women tend IMO here in Holland at least to be better company for much longer.
Anyhoo, I prefer non-European, mainly Asian, though I (used to, in case the wife is reading) have a liking for Hispanic/South American ladies too. 😀

The most beautiful women are from... Thailand and Mongolia. French lasies aren't too bad either.
BTW, and not to start a flamewar!, I can't stand most English young ladies. Most of them are just too rude, too vulgar, too common and are waaaay to loud. But that's just my opinion. Don't burn me down. 🙂

While we're on the subject of women, I wonder if the latest craze for Croatia as a tourist destination in the USA has to do with the previously mentioned subject 🙂

It's generally widely accepted in these parts of the world that the Croatian town Split has probably the largest concentration of beautiful women in one place. Just take a stroll along the "Riva" (a popular meeting place) there, and literally EVERY girl/woman you see there can be a model in a Paris fashion show - and they're not anorexic, either, BTW 🙂

As an aside, I married a girl from the nearby island of Hvar 🙂

Denis

Hehe how long has it been since a trip to NYC in the US. The women there can be heard for 5 city blocks on a clear night amidst the din of city traffic.

denis...dunno...i've just heard that italians like to go to Slovenia not for the food and such...but because the most beautiful girls live there😀
but i've heard it from a slovenian girl, so, draw your own conclusion.
Anyway...slovenian, croatian, aren't they about the same?😛
