ESP is popular as a tourist destination, a movie set, and of course, a piece of history. I've been to ESP quite a few times, mostly in the 1990s. I hope to get a lot of time in the saddle this year. I have to maintain my fitness for heath reasons, and as I get older it gets harder not to gain the weight that will lead to a shorter lifespan.

I set up my Ti IBIS with slicks and am setting it up as a 63.5 gear inch single speed that will weigh in under 17 1/2 pounds. This bike is quick to accelerate and is a good climber.

This summer I'll see what an old man can do to stay young.

Time is precious: don't waste it.

It seems three degrees of separation strikes again.

It seems "Maggie" works with a professor/friend who commutes to Fordham's Lincoln Center campus from Center City Philly.

Greg's wife is an architect who was responsible for the structural analysis of ESP before it became a museum. Greg's wife hired a photographer to document the neglected conditions.

Later this summer we intend on getting together, and I will have an opportunity to see some of these archival shots.

It's been a while -- it's Yong here. A query to Cal or John or anyone who may remember me: I am looking to borrow a wide-lens camera for about an hour to shoot interiors sometime in the next few days. Nothing fancy--and doesn't have to be very wide either. Anyone can help out? No remuneration in mind, but a heap of gratitude and, if you want a homemade tart of choice, you've got it. Downtown Manhattan & can pick up/drop off. Let me know! Thanks!

It could be good, but perhaps not the best for low light. The tour is only an hour, so quick shooting handheld might be better.

For me this might be just surveying the location. I will return if I find an interesting opportunity.

Although our tour is 1 hour long, ESP is open until 5pm for those who would like to stay and shoot at their own pace.

I plan to shoot some MF on this visit, but not during the tour. Tripods are fine - just the $10 extra fee, good for 1 year.

If anyone here is lurking know that about 5 minutes ago only two $1.00 priced reserved seats were left on the 6:50 NYC departure. The trip home is less booked.

I told Mike about this trip, but so far the forensics (remaining Megabus reserved seats) tell me that so far they have not signed up.

Still a two seats left for only a $1.00 surcharge.

6:50 AM depart NYC on Sunday 22d of May.

6:15 PM return from Philly Sunday 22d of May.

I think I will Monochrom to keep the kit small and flexible.

I am reading James A Michner's novel "Poland."

The second chapter deals with the invasion of Poland by the Tarters. The level of plundering is historical, and basically I now understand why I was so unwelcomed in Greenpoint because of Polish history.

Many Poles were killed, the plundering was in totality, and raping was for fun.

Pretty much there was a lot of tension when I lived there. I was kept an outsider for the 5 years I lived there.

BTW I found the book on Lexington Avenue right across from where I live.

So now we are ten, and there remains just one more $1.00 reserved seat on the bus from New York.

We will be in Philly at 9:00 AM at 30th Street, but ESP does not open till 10:00 AM. I for one will likely have to pee so we could reconoiter around the 30th Street Station, use the bathroom get some coffee and walk to ESP.

Not sure how you folks want to spend your day, but let's discuss what you want to accomplish. I'm open to anything.

If checking out the parts of Philly we were told to avoid (north and west) I say it is best to go in the morning to explore fringy areas.

Also sometime we have to take advantage of all the good eats available, and perhaps some of you would want a drink.

We only have about 8 hours to exploit, but I know I want to have tired feet for the bus ride home.

Thanks for the heads up. Looks like with Jim's partner we are 11.

Sunday's weather looks like there might be some leftover rain from Saturday.

Interesting micro Meet-Up last night in my apartment. Nick a make-up artist decorated "Maggie" with an eyebrow made of kale, and Mike, the pro fashion photographer dragged about 100 pounds of lighting gear and set up a studio in my apartment for a tight head shot for some Instagram promotion.

Nick is an interesting guy who was wearing 80's glam as a woman having come from a modeling event. In Maggie's fashion show at Fordham Nick was one of the models, but last night he was a lot taller than me due to 80's style platform heels. Maggie tells me that Nick has a huge Instagram posting where he closely resembles Princess Dianna.

The head/face shot was done with a Macro. For some unknown reason Ham-Dog did not jump in every shot and basically chilled on his bed. Mike has a crazy high end set of lights. Each head alone costs $1K. On one he set up a 7 foot umbrella ad a diffused fill light.

Anyways it seems like these pop-up studio sessions will happen regularly as this collaboration pans out.

The weather forecast might have some residual showers leftover from Saturday in the morning. An expected high of 65 degrees and overcast.

Actually this might be great lighting (diffused) for ESP shooting.

Know that you should be there at least 15 minutes early before the depart time. If there is a big line of people for general seating you might have the risk of loosing your reserved status and boarding first.

That two hour ride goes fast.
