More 28mm Nikkors pictures
More 28mm Nikkors pictures
Thank you, Vince. Here's a B&W. I have more, but I am discovering that most of my file sizes are too large upload. Need to get hold of a copy of photoshop or equivalent and do some downsizing. I am also discovering that I have kept less track of data concerning what lens I was usingthan I thought. Oh, well. WES

I have the same trouble. I have been known to shoot with 8 to 10 different lenses on a single roll of film (hey, these are Inter-Changeable Lens rangefinders, after all). When I look at the pictures, some of them I can recognize right away, others I have to really think hard about and make an educated guess.

Hi,
maybe be this is not the right place to post , but a free soft for personal use is available at www.faststone.org - fsviewer. I don't use anything else besides NX for raw editing.

For that matter, Microsoft Office 2003 and later comes with a workable basic photo editor, suitable for cropping, resizing and basic contast control.

I love the fact that PhotoShop allows me to use black-and-white style darkroom techniques with color images. Burning, dodging, changing contrast.

I never used Polycontrast. Much preferred graded paper. When making prints, Ilford Grade 4 was like my photographic chocolate ...

My favorite was Agfa Brovira #3.

While I don't own a Nikkor wide angle lens, I really like the tiny Canon 35mm/2.8 lens. It is overall an excellent lens at a great price. I sold mine just to quickly buy another one since I started to miss having the lens for photography. I also love my Canon 28mm/3.5. While 28mm lenses seem to be less used or mentioned here, I find that they actually could be more useful than wider lenses. The 28mm perspective can be a very nice one, with very little distortion when compared to the 24mm or 21mm lenses.

Afga Brovira was wonderful stuff. I learned to print on it, and the blacks never seemed the same on other papers.

Thanks for more great shots, Wes. That's definitely what we're talking about!

The little W-Nikkor 2.8cm f3.5 is one of my favourites as well. Perfect on an SP with the internal 28mm finder.

Jon, compare W-Nikkor 2.8cm with CV SC-Skopar 28/3.5, which one do you like better ?
Thanks.

I own one of these in chrome, but I've not tried it yet (perhaps this weekend??). I noticed that some of the example shots shown above have soft corners and evidence of mild vignetting. None of which is a big deal of course, after all this lens was pretty cutting edge for its time optically. The center sharpness and contrast look pretty good. I've used the LTM version of this lens and it's similar in performance. The LTM version has about the best build-quality of any lens I've seen, ever (including Leica lenses).

They're both great lenses, and worth keeping both for their different look (lower contrast and vignetting vs. high contrast and super sharp)! I'd hate to sell either, but if I had to sell one I think the Nikkor would stay and the CV would go.
