Would someone know what is the proper Canon sunshade for use with the LTM Canon 50/1.4?
Thanks.

This will probably be of little help, but the official part number is 112715. This lens takes a 48mm filter, so some hood that fits that would probably work.

A lot of great images in this thread.
I love this lens. I found a pristine copy on eBay without too much difficulty last year and since then I've been consistently impressed with both ergonomics and image quality. For a 40+ year old lens it's quite remarkable. I find that the lens has a perfect balance of retro character and sharpness (I'm often quite surprised by how sharp things turn out, even wide open).
When shot wide open on over-exposed Portra 400, the lens produces a really dreamy, glowing-yet-sharp quality that I still struggle to re-create digitally.

The Canon 50mm 1.4 LTM is my favorite lens. I have 3 other 50's (7artisans 50 1.1, CV50 1.5, CV50 1.1) and the Canon is still the best. (And cheapest).

Love this Page ... Beautiful Shac & All !
Do not have my 1.4 anymore but started shooting again with the 1.8... is the 1.8 a sonnar design ?

Thanks Helen (the 1.8 is also a good optic) -and congrats to all. It really is a super lens. Wide open it's almost as "good" as my v2 Summilux, but both are excellent wide open IMO (which is a major reason for having a 1.4 isn't it?

Helen, I seem to recall that the 1.8 is a double Gauss design, more like the Planar.

Hello,
I noticed that this forum makes the Canon or Serenar 50mm f/1.5 LTM price increase. The Sonnar formula is a great thing, I know. That is probably why the Canon or Serenar 50mm f/1.8 LTM often cost more than... the Canon 50mm f/1.4 LTM, double-Gauss formula.
I've used the Canon 50mm f/1.4 LTM last week-end in Paris, France. I thought we may just share some pics taken with this affordable gem. I love Sonnar lenses, but this one rocks too, IMO.
I also did a nice portrait of a friend of mine, once, with the same gear as upon : Minolta CLE + Canon 50mm f/1.4 LTM
Please share YOUR pics taken with this lens !
Regards from France,
Nicolas

Really low contrast. Is it from spherical aberrations wide-open or just fixed haze on the elements?
