Out of interest, the 8th photo in the set (Summer Isles, Scotland III) is an infrared shot using a B+W 092 on the 28mm.

That is also my favorite one, rock'n stuff John!

Have you made any large prints from these and if so, how large do you feel comfortable with?

I just got done scanning a shot on Techpan in 6x9 to do a comparison to the same image from a 5D..... there is no contest, the 5d is limited to about 30x50 while the Techpan shot could easily go as big as 8x12 feet at the same apparent viewing quality.

I have an M8 on order, look forward to toting it in the high country.

Great stuff all around though!!

Here is a small sample of the Techpan shot.....

I am impressed by your tonal range (though the shadows between the logs are very dark, are they pure black?). I could never get techpan to look good at all. I would have awful negs, albeit with no grain.

Thanks!

The shadows are just about pure black, I use my 9000ED full tilt, 16 bit, 14X , glass holder, etc.

The thing with Techpan is knowing that you have the wonderful opportunity to exploit it based on the characteristic of it having narrow exposure latitude for pictorial use. What would ordinarily work against you clearly spells out that in certain situations, you are not going to get a very good result and will get outstanding results in others.

In other words, this film is one that you assign a camera to permanently, to only shoot it in ideal situations like the somewhat flat light that I gave it. I do not experiment with the darkroom, I keep that very, very consistent.

I only have 103 rolls of 120mm & 150 rolls of 35mm Techpan, I intend to shoot it very selectively over the next 10-15 years on niche subjects much like John's hauntingly wonderful scenes of the Scottish Highlands.

But really, not to hijack the thread, I look forward to creating my own signature style with the M8 and I have to say that this particular thread of images is about the best collective of imagery from the M8 I have seen thus far.

Everyone on here ought to be very proud of how well they have portrayed what the M8 can do in the right hands.

Well done!

First of all, I really enjoy looking through all the pictures posted thus far. The more I use the M8 the more I appreciate its control.

2 of the photos I did on my friends' request.
