Helen, good luck with the DP3M and we all look forward to seeing your results. I took this with my DP3M on Friday - just at sunset at the RAF Museum in London. Seemed rather poignant to see young air cadets parading in front of the aircraft display:

Hi Louis :
Gorgeous backdrop of the Sky's Light beckoning thru...Very Well Done !
Love the colors & the way the aircraft Glistens

Something so Seductive about the Foveon sensor
This sensor renders with an Ethereal other World Quality
Turns the Mundane into the Sublime

To Gary: I blame You !
Its ALL your Fault...getting us All hooked with The Merrill's & your Threads ;)

I took almost this exact same image with the OMD when I had it but can't for the life of me find the file to make a comparison. ISO 1600 processed emphasising the blue channel and actually used the grain function in SPP ... which is suprisingly good IMO.

It was defintely OMD because I remember how blown away I was by the performance of the 25mm Pany Leica lens I'd just got through the classifieds from Sug.

Lovely image Helen ... and has your signature all over it. :)

I was having a fair amount of trouble getting sharp images when I first got the DP2M ... a lot of it was being totally unused to holding a camera out in front of me to compose. Since putting a finder on the Sigma I'm getting sharp results down to 1/15. Because of the equivalent 75mm focal length of the 3M I would expect it to be even more prone to this problem when composing with the LCD.

AutoFocus or shutter speed related, Helen?

I would not shoot under about 125th of a second w/ dp3m unless u got a good three point hold.

I have noticed that when u get tooo close, the af lock goes green but is not really on the subject but another object w/in the correct min. Focal point. I ave had a couple of these before I started double checking when I get too close. I think it is a bug in their fw algo.

I'm expecting a bit of a new learning curve when I get my DP3M. It's taken me the best part of two months to get totally used to the DP2M where using it is a predominantly instinctive process.

And Gary:

Thinking about all things foveon and the possibilty of an SD1M the new 18-35 f1.8 lens caught my eye at the B&H site. That on the SD1M would be magic IMO. 27mm to 52mm equivalent focal length and enough speed that the ISO limitations of the sensor become of little issue. I note that the lens isn't available yet but I'm watching! :D
