Ok so I took the plunge and sold-off a Canon 24-105mm f/4.0 IS and with the proceeds I've purchased a used Leica M4-P -Black Body on eBay (Crossing my fingers everything ok with the body)...
The big question now is what lens to get - I know I'd like to stay within the 40mm range so my choices are:
Leica - M Summicron 40mm f/2.0 About 310 BGN on Keh.com
Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f/1.4 about 350.00 on CameraQuest.com or eBay.
How good are these VC Noktons??
P.S. I'm so excited I can't wait for the M4-P to get here!!!! I know this is so funny I've had Dslr's for years (Canon and Nikon's) He he waiting like a child at christmas for his Red Rider B-B gun. He he.

Well, for a 40 you will find that they bring up the 50mm framelines on an M. Both the Summicron C and Nokton are very nice. I had a Minolta Rokkor CLE 40/2, basically the same as the Summicron, different filter thread, focusing cam and multi coated, which I loved so I am biased towards the Rokkor. In the same price range you can't go wrong with a 35 Ultron or a nice condition black Canon 50/1.8 which should sell for a little less. I think the BGN price at KEH is a little high, the last couple I saw sell have gone for less than $300.
How good are the CV lenses? I would say to look through images here, flickr..... look for images from these lenses. Let you eyes pick out something that you like, or don't like about them to help you make the decision.

Agreed with Ralph, both CLE 40/2 M-Rokkor and CV 40/1.4 are outstanding lenses.
Check here:

The Nokton is a unique lens but a little bigger than the 40/2 Summicron
variants.

Those three lenses behave very similarly. But the CLE 40/2 is easier to
use (40.5mm filter, etc) and more robust I find.
Best,
Roland.

I paid 875 for a M4P and I think I got a great deal. The camera was in great shape, and the forum member selling it went above and beyond to make it a great experience. Rather then got involved in a pissing match I know from my retail experience that the used market is impossible to track. Set your price, if it sells to fast scratch your head and wonder if you could of charged more, if it doesn't sell cut the price, you were wrong.
