Might share my first impressions in this thread about this scanner.
I did buy it from Scandig's website from germany, i live in Finland.
I am really a beginner even in film photography but i enjoy it more than digital. Makes me take my time..
I did get also Vuescan professional and ColorPerfect plug-in for Photoshop CC 2017 (i am also a total newbie in photoshop, only used Lightroom for my editing)
I have been trying to follow this guide:
http://benneh.net/tech****/vuescan-colorperfect-a-guide/?goal=yes And it seems kinda like a good workflow
🙂
The main irritating thing for me i think is VueScan and how it behaves.. So i only have like 5 total hours of use so far but still..
If i align the frame nicely using the hardware buttons found on the top of the scanner while looking in the small window on top of it, lets say frame no.3 on a strip.
Then hit preview in VueScan, it runs the film strip to the beginning to frame 1. and previews it! Annoying as heeeelll
😀 Also the interface looks sooo outdated..
And i also have many times had the issue when feeding the film strip into the scanner it align's it so that its 50% of one frame and 50% of the next frame.. Dont know if its the scanner fault or Vuescan, actually i think Vuescan's because this happens after i hit preview.. This mis-alignment.
And when i somehow get software buttons to pop-up into Vuescan to Forward or reverse the frame in the strip, nothing happens. It only executes it after i hit preview again.. So i have to think ahead about the frame i want to try to scan..
Pretty much just a headache trying to get the grips of it
😀
So i did download the Silverfast AI suite demo just for fun..
The interface of that did at first glance look well a bit more modern but all the options and switches.. almost a new headache creeping up again.
But after a few test scans it looked more promising, the frames did align nicely every time and when using hardware buttons to select the wanted frame in the middle of the srtip the software did preview just it, and not spooled back to the first frame in the strip.. YAY!
And the software buttons could also be used to forward/reverse the frames in real time!
So this seems really promising in my eyes, it just seems that there is only a "single pass" option as the default scanning in Silverfast, in Vuescan you could choose the number of passes to decrease the scanning noise in the picture?
Well even with the default the picture looks ok in my eyes in Silverfast.
So this far on my budget i have spent for me a lot of money for the scanner model, so that i would not have to upgrade in the future
🙂
Also i did buy the licenses for Vuescan Pro and Colorperfect, but the workflow using them seems a bit annoying for me...
So i might instead spend my hard earned cash on Silferfast also, and perhaps tro to color calibrate it also with some calibration strips. By this interesting post

Anyways i'm sure that with time i will get a good workflow for myself but this start has been a real stress..
Please share any thoughts if you have noticed something good/bad in your trials with this scanner
🙂
Also, any ideas what might cause this strange line running trough the whole scanned picture

It is not visible in the paper prints from the lab of this roll of film. It seems to be in every frame in the same spot, in the scans i have now done..
