I'm trading off an M4 and I was asked about the back door of my M. I don't know the history of this body and I'm not too versed on the specifics of the M4, so I'm asking here if any expert types can take a look at the pictures and tell me if you think this back door is stock or has maybe been changed out at some point.

Thanks for any info.

The ASA dial is normally chrome. You have a black dial - very rare.

The pressure plate side looks normal.

The hand written, in pencil, number on the inside face of the door indicate work by a repair/service organization at some point. Also the mangled screw heads visible in the close ups of the pressure plate indicate some DIY service attempts.

The door has probably not been replaced - repaired at some point for some reason.

Up close, the screw heads are not mangled at all. It looks this way in the foto because of the glue that was placed over the screw head.

black dials instead of chrome.
Probably a door from an M4-2 or M4-P.
Could be from an M4 Black chrome but these are rarer, so the odds are lower.

the eyepiece looks like the one on my M2 not like the one on my M4 (but I don't know if there were M4s that came out of factory with this here eyepiece).

I sent this link to Youxin also. He wrote me back saying the door is from a Black Chrome M4. That solves the mystery for me. Thanks for all the help gang!
