Wow, at first I wasn't sure it was a joke, but then he showed the Nocti. The humor is pretty dead-pan though...let's hope it's a joke.

No one buys that much camera without knowing what they are getting into. And there is no way anyone would like at the images on the LCD of an M9 and think it was a great camera.

Oh yes they do... remember, to some spending $20,000 is like us spending $50.

Yup. A few years ago I read a comment made by a member about how on another forum (fine pens, watches, pipes or something), that another fine item to have is a Leica camera. He popped in to RFF, found out a little about Leicas and bought a kit.

Well, two examples:
Ran into a lady some years ago with an M7--she didn't have any idea how to load film into the camera and told me she thought it sucked, anyway. Guess she bought right into "the Leica Legend" and thought buying the camera would automatically turn her from a "happy snapper" into a photographer as good as, say, David Douglas Duncan, without doing the work.
Then there was the woman on a photo trip who showed up with a $10,000 Hasselblad, had never read the instruction manual, and didn't even know how to turn it on (it was one of their later autoexposure models).
So yeah, some people really do rush right out and buy expensive pro-model cameras without knowing a damn thing about photography.
Only wish Id've offered to take that M7 off that lady's hands for cheap...

At least the guy lucked out and went to a pro shop where the staff was knowledgeable, as a result he ended up with the best camera and lens available.

Yeah, I wish my sales guys were that good.

It's a spoof. It's very well done. The camera on the bed. The dead pan delivery. The use of the term noctilux instead of boasting of the f1 etc is the give away that he's an insider. Plus the mere fact he made the video at all. Bit disappointed it's manual focus! It's directed at us.

It made me smile -- regardless - real or spoof.
(wow - I want to get that sales person on my team too, can make someone spend $19k - that isn't into photography.)

Here's my review of the "review":
What did he shoot that video with? It must be a 645 rangefinder with a portrait orientation.
Someone got a good commission on that sale! It actually helped the sales rep take better photos - since he/she now has some extra money to throw down on some lenses.
I hesitate to call it a review. It really didn't inform me of anything. Other than the guy is loaded.
