Sorry, someone may have asked about this before: is there a site where the English instruction booklet for the R-D1s can be downloaded? The cameras from Japan carry only Japanese instructions.

The PDF of the manual can be downloaded from Epson's dedicated R-D1 website- but being their usual untogether selves when it comes to supporting this camera, the link's broken!

However, it can be downloaded from elsewhere:

Thanks Rich. All the while, I thought that it was my computer which had the problem in downloading the files from the Epson site. Would the manual in the alternative site be applicable for the R-D1s?

I would think so. The changes from the R-D1 to R-D1s are few in number (though important to me) - can't recall all of them off the top of my head, but if you ferret around for a web page that describes what the firmware upgrade does it, that will serve fine as an "appendix" to the R-D1 manual.

To be honest, I've never actually got round to reading my manual properly (just a quick glance through a year ago to see (a) how the menu works and (b) what the cryptic white balance symbols on the dial meant), since the camera's very intuitive to use - most of the time I tend to shoot with the LCD folded-in, to preserve battery life!

Only got a 15 pages Quick Reference Guide with the R-D1s (English version).
The 54 pages of the R-D1 Users' Guide are more informative setting aside the new features of the R-D1s.

It is indeed so. I was able to see one "live" (a camera belonging to a new friend) only last week. I really felt like a fish taking to water when I held an R-D1 for the first time. The moment I got home from that meeting, I immediately went online and ordered one from Japan. :)

The manual would be important in the cases which you've described: mostly ware-related issues rather than shooting with the camera itself.

Yes it works.
Thank you, John.

The link is dead or broken. Clicking on the "open" tab doesn't do anything.
I just tried the link and it opened straight up to the right page. Just try double clicking the link:(
