RD1x Buy or Not

Took some shots while having lunch. I forgot to set in Raw+Jpeg and Raw in camera and my color setting was monochrome. Anyway, focus is spot on, the VF seems to be brighter than my previous RD1. Shot with 35 Cron V4 ISO800 2.0-2.8.

I ordered the grip from the same seller obviously it was removed and sold separately but no issues as most used camera sellers do that.

Thanks guys a good buy indeed.

Like it very much. Though I haven't much time yet to use the RD1x, I can say it performs same as my previous RD1 though the VF is a bit brighter and the rubber seems firmer. I'll post as soon as I get it to spin more.

So after a long time you finally got one! I hope you enjoy it.

I have to admit that (as much as I would love to have a digital rangefinder), if I were to get camera today I would probably go with the Ricoh GXR and M-mount. I know - not RF, but produces very nice output (no AA filter).

BTW - the last two images have some strong color blotches - is that an effect of high ISO or just a strong JPEG compression?

Hey Gil,

Nice camera! I'm a little slow on picking up this thread, but seems its not too late to see nice pics of a great camera that still piques interest. I've taken a small picture hiatus, but really enjoy my RD1x too. I'll post a few pics at the weekend.

Cheers,
Milo

Hi Milo that's a nice rig, I just got my grip for it. Another sample shot with the 35 cron V4

Hey Gil,

Nice pics. The cron is super sharp. I'll have to wait on getting one. Did you get an Epson grip or another? I wish the Luigi case could accommodate the R-D1x grip, but I'd rather protect the camera than keep the grip without a case.

There's no grip when I bought my RD1x so I have to buy the original from the same seller. You can get a Zhou or Luigi for yours if you want a case. The leather of RD1x is IMO an improvement over the older ones that easily unglue itself. I used a Luigi with my previous RD1, it's good but makes the RD1 bulkier.
