Sorry if this has been covered...but I have searched this forum and others and haven't found the answer I need.

I have a perfectly working Fujica Half 1.9 that I'm dying to use. Well perfectly working minus the light meter.

So I'm trying to figure out if its possible to replace the battery on this camera. Haven't seen a clear area of the camera where the battery would go and I've seen nothing in the manual about it. Anyone out there have any answers to this?!

Trying to get it fully functional to take it with me to Thailand soon as my main camera. : )

Thanks so much in advance.

I believe that the Fujica Half 1.9 has a selenium meter which doesn't require a battery. I don't know if it allows full control of aperture and shutter speed (for example, with a seperate meter). You can find a manual at www.butkus.org.

If you have full manual control of shutter speed and aperture then you should be OK, just set the exposure using the 'sunny 16' method, consult an exposure scale, or use a separate light meter.

I have a Pen D with a dead meter, never been a problem.

Don't be afraid to look up and print out an exposure scale. A printable one should be available somewhere on the net. They used to be included with each roll of film! If you intend to shoot color negative (for prints) then that's great, it has a lot of over-exposure latitude.

Also remember that on that camera focus is by scale. So, if you are close up, 3~8 ft. and large aperture, f1.9~f4, then you have to be fairly good at estimating distance, otherwise, the result will be out of focus subjects.

For normal snapshots in bright daylight though, with 200 ISO film, set the aperture to 11, the shutter to 1/125 and the focus to 16 feet. At that setting the focus will cover from about 7 ft. to infinity. You now have reduced the number of decisions you have to make and the camera will behave much like one of those single use cameras.

Thanks for all the tips everyone! I had fully planned to just manually adjust everything should I not get the meter to work.... Because I have been photographing for a number of years...just thought it would be cool to have the meter fully functioning on that old beast! : )

CHEERS!
