back to basics
Is it possible to resilver a brightline finder? The point is, I have the Leitz brightline finders for 90 and 135mm and very happy with both of them. These two have a 100% mirror outside the viewing frame. No problem here.
But, I also have an 'Accura' finder with 'wide' and 'tele' markings. This one is a very nice one actually. 1:1 view, parralax compensation by a rotating scale.
So far for the good part.
The Accura finder has a curved front lens that has a gold coloured coating on it. It is different in construction from the Leitz ones because this gold coating isn't 100% but partial. Can it be that this coating has deteriorated? Resulting is less visibility of the brightlines? The coating still is quite uniform all over the lens. Or is this the way it is supposed to be?
