RF BOOK-Project

I can still be in, right?

You Americans are hogging the pages! While y'all are still awake the rest of us sleep! :)

I really have loads of reading up to do since last evening. And I can't do so right now because I'm at work.

Anyway, count me in if there's still some place left. :)

As always email all stuff to aperture (at) gmail.com

I'll send it off tonight... same one I posted in the coffee and camera thread.

Seems it's going fast !!! Btw,

- I also vote for glued back
- If possible, colour, but as you said it's quite a difference in the final sale price (less potential buyers?)
- I vote also for no themes, just rf-photography.
- As for the front cover, how 'bout some PS setup using the base of that RF T-shirt from some time ago ?

And... I'm gonna sleep now, impatient to read the new posts tomorrow though ;)

I hope you like the progress Jos ;)

Has anyone contacted graksi?
He's got fabulous photos, and IMHO, it would be a shame to leave him out...
Maybe I could contact him, since we're (geographically) neighbours?

Denis

That would be excellent! Graksi has some of the best street photos I have ever seen! :)

If there is a spot left I'll be in it... I thought I had posted but that was your other thread about the book :)

Madness!!! hehehe.... this thread is six pages long already and I'll be lucky to squeeze my foot in the door... and the thread isn't a day old yet! And there was me thinking I should stop checking for new posts from work... well that’s that foolish thought chucked out the window :D

Edit: Opps.. make that 7 pages long.

I go to sleep and look what I find the following morning !!!

One suggestion, I guess we all are having problems to select our pictures, how about a specific thread (here or in pbase) where we could upload our 'candidates' set ?

Edit: NEW IDEA! We could each one create a single folder in our RFF gallery to place our 'Candidates' there, it would make feedback and choices easier. What do you think ?

Would a digital viewfinder camera be allowed? ... or does it have to be a genuine rangefinder like a Leica or CV etc?

Would images previously posted to the gallery be allowed?

If yes to both, I'm in, if there's still any room.

John

Richard, I think we're at a point that we need an overview of all the prerequisites and such of those that are "IN".

I jumped in late and I'm completely lost what information or data you need from me. I read somehwere you need my email address, and that there's some place where I can upload my photos. Digging through 7 pages of thread I could easily miss one or two things.

Few more suggestions

Few more suggestions

(i'm so excited about this stuff, forgive me for these posts hehe  )

The font type -question, if I may suggest graphite light ATT. (I have no idea if it can be used in PDF etc. It's quite well-known in windows applications.) It's a nice looking, discrete and easy-to-read font type - my all-time favourite (i did some student magazine editing full of short literature and drawing/etching repros during my studentship). See attached image :) (Printed on paper it's even nicer. Available for free, e.g. at http://personales.com/espana/madrid/truetypefonts/ttfeng.htm .)

Images on page: I think it's best if they are all horizontal, i.e. one does not need to rotate the book 90 degrees to view certain images. I always find it very awkward to do so. If it's landscape and it has to fit on a portrait-oriented page, well, it should fit as a smaller image but it will still look better in my oppinion. Also, images spread over both pages in an open book will be "cut in two" and look bad, since the middle will never fully open and never will be flat enough to do the image justice. So i would keep the image on one side only. The latter is not only my view, i've read/heard similar oppinions of more involved people, like artists and editors.

Sorry if the above was obvious to you guys :)

Hi guys!!

My so much has happened since I was here yesterday!

I'd like to be included again (was in the first thread!) if there's still space. (Must keep snapping!)

Also I'd be very interested in being involved with the design/layout of the covers as I have an interest in graphic design & typography too. :)

Cheers

-Nick!
