UK Region RFF EuroMeet 2011, London

Hey ade-oh, that is a nice walk, havn't been down there for years.... I'll pop down there next weekend and see if it isn't too tranquil - it wouldn't do for people coming to London to think it was too nice.

Careful you don't go into 'The Dove' on Upper Mall: you may never want to come out!

When I saw a "EuroMeet" I thought there might be a slight chance I could make it all the way from down under as I am heading there for a two month holiday, however the weekend you have selected I will be somewhere round europe on a tour, bummer!

Oh well, enjoy it!!!!!!!!!!! I might pop one of my rangefinders in my bag and shoot some rolls while I'm there....

j_newy, of course if your tour happens be near Paris or Brussels at that time ;) you can step on to the Eurostar train and be in St Pancras, London in a couple of hours.

Steve.

It'd be rude for me not to go given I only live an hour's train ride away, not sure I can do the whole weekend but I'm sure one of the day's I can make.

Vicky

Hey Vicky, it would be impolite indeed.

A bump for anyone who hasn't seen the thread yet.

Please pop down any suggestions anyone.

Ok, a little arse over tit but on the Sunday we'll be meeting at or very near Liverpool St Station and have a look at (some of) the East End. As some of us are leaving that afternoon, we can easily walk to a tube station and get going when we like.

I'm still researching the Saturday.

Mind the gap

Mind the gap

Hello everyone,

Great to see another meetup coming soon !

Kully, can you recommend an affordable place to sleep ?

Kind regards,

javabean.

Good work Kully!

Any pointers on where the most convenient area to book a hotel basedon where we expect to be shooting?

I think you'll be fine wherever you book, just jump on the tube or grab a bus and you'll be anywhere in less than 20 minutes.

If it's useful to factor in your accommodation price/location equation. . . A travelcard offering unlimited travel until 4.30 am the next day, within Zones 1-6 costs:
£8 after 9.30 am (off-peak);
£15 travelling before that time (peak).

Seeing BobFrance joining in has made me wonder if any of the other regular Northern England shooters will be joining us? I've hoped for an opportunity to join one of the weekend meets you lot do a number of times but work has consistently raised it's ugly, yet much needed, head. It would be great to meet some more 'locals,' relatively speaking:D

Having keenly followed your Milton Keynes project Vicky I hope you do get the chance to come along, I'm interested to find out about other projects you have in the pipeline.

Kully, sorry I didn't get back to you re: a recce this month. Works gone from worryingly quiet to outright mental. Sunday in the East End should be a good day out though, always plenty to photograph even if it's just the other snappers!

Andrew, it is worth pointing out to those who don't know that it is off-peak all weekend, peak / off-peak divisions only apply Mon-Fri.

No worries Simon, I've only managed to get out one day so far.

If there is still anyone worried about photographing in London, don't be, on Sunday I saw so many people snapping away at anything and everything with compacts to SLRs. I even sat on and around a bench at Liverpool St Underground for over an hour taking snaps and wasn't bothered (and I can look pretty dodgy).

Of course, this is not a guided walk, we go where we go with just some general waypoints. However, I am a little confused about the Saturday, I'm thinking Borough Market for lunch and.... (I really have no idea, as long as it is not Picadilly Circus, Oxford or Regent Street or any form of museum). Please help me out, I'm just a banished Brummie.

St Paul

St Paul

Sir Kully,

Is Saint Paul a good place to stay over ? There is a youth hostel there in a nice old building (yes, with British breakfast too ;-)) I have stayed there in 2009 and was pleased with the £16-something fee per night. There are lockers there too, to store your expensive cameras.

Besides the Kully Tours, I definetely want to visit Abbey Road, Shakespear Theater and some stand-up comedy cafe.

Cheers,

javabean.

The absolute vast majority of the time you're never going to get any bother at all in London from anybody. Unfortunately for such a large place the bad stories do come out in what might seem a major clamp down on photographers, but it's not the case. Certainly I have never been snarled up in any bother and I photograph all sorts of things most people don't even care to look at let alone photograph!

Having keenly followed your Milton Keynes project Vicky I hope you do get the chance to come along, I'm interested to find out about other projects you have in the pipeline.

I'd be happy to natter on this for sure, but not monopolise haha, but yes I aim to be round at least one whole day if not two, I'll find somewhere to kip as I still have family in London. I sure have other things worming their way to the surface but the MK stuff I am drawing to a conclusion this year with the book and then pushing the exhibitions which I haven't had the chance to really push beyond early-mid last year's work.

Vicky

Lord Syzte,

Unfortunately I know nothing about accomodation in London. Except that Paddington Station is a miserable place to sleep when you miss the last train home.

Comedy - the Comedy Club near Leicester Square is OK.

7.5 weeks to go, a bump for anyone who hasn't seen the thread yet.

If you've expressed interest in coming along and I havn't already PM'd you for an email address and mobile number I'll do so shortly, or PM me if you like, I may have missed you.
