I suspect this has been talked about here but can't resist asking - with so much great knowledge & advice stored on these here RFF pages and given the almost daily questions from new/old members on what to buy/how to repair/best lenses/bodies/film/super finds, etc, would it make sense to compile some sort of an illustrated compendium of "best advice" and publish it somehow? I for one would buy at least 2 copies in a blink. I hope I am not rehashing a well-discussed idea.. Basically, I know about the "Search" button here but looking for knowledge this way is too time consuming and rather hunt&peck-like. A book / CD / well-indexed online publication, now that would be something else entirely, IMHO.

On another forum I used to frequent (fishing, not photography) they had a forum to put all the classic tips in one place, so that no search was really required. It accomplishes both the effect of a reference, and also keeps "silly" questions down a bit.

I think it'd be a great idea here too, but I've heard rumors that there might be a lack of space for new forums.

Another idea that comes to mind could be an online CMS, where moderator-approved contributors could post/edit chapters/sections, etc. For example, I am currently using this free CMS for a new website http://www.joomla.org/, so far it's been easy to set up and maintain.
